Congrats, what a nice find. I agree with the poster that said that, with it being your birth year, it found you. Great job on a lot of hard work to get "lucky."

And now the story ends. After a couple of months of waiting, today I drove 4 hours to my closest AD to have a 1171/1 633 fitted.
Stunning watch and a great story. Many congrats, it’s the kind of find we all dream of.

Squeal if you want to, you've earned it after that find.
I'll put the ear defenders on!

I've just read through this whole thread from initial find through to servicing and finally an awesome looking bracelet. Let me add my congrats on a spectacular find after so much time hunting; it really paid off big time. Birth year watch is the icing on the cake.
Being a Kiwi, I'm curious about the nz in your username - any connection to NZ?

I'm a Kiwi & an Australian citizen. I live in NSW. I love both countries.

I find I have a LOT more success (no matter what it is I am hunting) If I avoid the main highways & go 'second city'/ rural town vs main thoroughfare.

I have struck absolute gold driving inland roads vs the coast (that said - this one was picked up in a store on perhaps one of the busiest roads in Australia 😀

That’s the ticket go small towns,.

Found heaps of old antique places in Tasmania and only got a chance to look in a few.

First one Mrs Standy pointed out around the corner from the main road in Sorell
Bingo, same cost as lunch for a Swiss watch

And now it's for sale.

https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-145-022-71.136115/

This gorgeous watch has spent the last 6 months in my drawer because I have run off with a younger model. My PO GMT (initially bought to sell on) has me infatuated.

This Speedy was the culmination of a lifetime spent scouring 2nd hand stores & the thrill was in the hunt. I loved wearing it but now it's time to let it go & give someone else a chance to own this beauty.

Also: I'm not sure if cross-posting to a sales thread is kosher, sorry if it's not, just delete away.

Biggest wrong you’ve done here is to have kept in the drawer through all this time!
