You’re still a lucky bastard, bloody lovely that is. Definitely a keeper being your birth year then. 😉

Awww man, TBH this one is pretty much the summit as far as my taste goes. I adore tool watches, absolutely love Omega & have coveted the Speedmaster since I was a child. To find a 145.022 - the epitome of a tool watch - produced in my birth year, in the year of the moon landing & just over a year after I had a very close call (cardiac), well - it's just peachy. I'll settle for never finding another watch again. But if I do you know i'll be posting it up here.

I would love an 1171/633 but it would have to be an internet purchase. I am considering an 1171/1 because while it won't be period correct, this little guy will be on my wrist daily, so I assume an 1171/1 will be more robust(?). until then I have a few heavy-duty Russian natos, a silky smooth Crown & buckle nato, & a couple of brown rallys that will be in rotation.

The modern 1171/1 633 combo is great. Little jangly but great. I’ve got it on my 145.022-76.

Just an amazing find. Looks like the local Salvos might be worth a visit! Well done.

ilovemyspeedmaster says it's a 1973

That is my birth year.

Holy shit.

It may be more appropriate to say that the watch found you.

And now the story ends. After a couple of months of waiting, today I drove 4 hours to my closest AD to have a 1171/1 633 fitted.

I simply could not be happier.

Also: a little bird told me today that the bracelet in question (020ST1171633) is about to get a lot harder to find. They are a relative steal at only AU$650, and apparently some folks are ordering spares now in anticipation of discontinuation.

At least that's what I heard.

Maybe on Ebay you can find also an original red box to complete the set 😀
It's not expensive..
