Banknotes?

Does anyone collect banknotes? I have recently found a Canadian dollar bill which I would post to anyone who wants it. Condition is best described as "grubby" and I doubt it's worth more than CDN$1.00 so I won't bother insuring it, if it's lost in transit so be it. My visits to Canada were all between 1974 and 1980 and the note was phased out for a coin (a loonie) late '70s. I might also have some loonie coins because I always left any country with some change ready for the next visit, but of course all that is "in storage somewhere" (TM).

Just FYI - this note lost it's legal tender status on Jan. 1st of this year.

Also other notes like the $2 note, $25 note, $500, and $1000 all lost their status as of Jan. 1st.

The banks may still take them (and Bank of Canada certainly will) but one one else has to.

Nice offer though!

Interesting, Al. I thought it was just the $1K banknote that lost it's legal tender status.

Here is another, Austrian 20 Schilling note. Same deal. Last time I was in Austria was 1991 and there is a date on the note "Wein am 1 Oktober 1986" which fits. I have minor denomination coins from France FF, Germany DM, Hungary Forint, New Zealand NZ$, USA US$, Canada CN$, Sweden Krona, Austria Schilling, Republic of Ireland Punt also, but we'd probably need to find an arrangement for shipping. Strange thing is that there were no Dutch coins because I was there a lot 1970s to 1990s. Oh, no Loonies, sorry 🙁

Sorry about the colour cast. This camera does that sometimes when using flash, never found out why. It didn't do that for the Canadian note.

yup
Try spending Scottish notes anywhere south of Newcastle and you get some very dirty looks.
I’ve even had them refused altogether in London.

Been that way for a long time unfortunately.
