I always find it a bit funny when people insist on saving the old crystal because "it's the original!". Well, there's no way of knowing, is there?

Same goes for crown, hands, pushers, etc. These things are routinely replaced at service, so the changes of them being truly the ones that the watch left the factory with, are slim...

One rule of thumb I use, half tongue in cheek is that if the crystal logo is lined up perfectly then it has definitely been replaced!

Many watches that leave the factory now don’t have the logo aligned. Back then, I don’t know...

Omega states clearly that there is no specific orientation of the logo...it's random. The only thing that is paid attention to in terms of orientation is the seam in the tension ring - that must be between the 5 and 7 hour markers at the bottom of the dial.

Just a short update, the watchmaker popped the back, the references are C2577-5 SC, serial 131510xx > approx. year 1951
I will post pictures when I get it back!
