Too bad it is not a funky color...black is probably my least favorite car color.

Well you're in luck, if you're not very careful how you store it, it'll turn various shades of brown and orange really quickly!

Yeah I have been doing a bit of research on them before I go check it out and it sounds like they are prone to rust in a few areas.
So I will be sure to be looking into those areas....

That's like saying the Hindenburg had a small flammability problem.... be very thorough

I have not seen it yet but my father-in-law went.
Money was exchanged.
Hope to have it in the garage this weekend.

Well done! Hope it's going to live up to expectations. There are some colour charts around that don't show Black as an O.E. colour, but LKL 041 does feature as available in the factory documentation, (though I don't recall seeing one.)

Well the good news is that there are really no expectations at the moment hah.
Car was originally from the Northeast USA so that concerns me a bit in regards to structural rust issues.
And the car is a re-paint. Was originally Zambezi Green....DAMN!
Why anyone would paint it black is beyond me.
It's like all the older houses that put carpet over beautiful wood floors.

This was the chart I looked at, apparently from '74.

Haven’t posted from Aventura’s Finest Hand Car Wash (AFHCW) for a very long time. Not because there wasn’t anything worthy, more like laziness and forgetfulness.

Today, when one of my favorite vehicles of all time is here, I can be silent no longer...

Mercedes 230SL W113 type. Year unknown, but I’ll guess 1965-68:

Enjoy,

Beautiful car Evan, one of my favorites too! The 230 was the first of the 113s produced and ran from 1963 to 1967. The 250 ran from 66 to 68 and the 280, the final iteration ran from 67 to 71. (A little overboard on the Merc data.🙄) Such a great design, looks as good with the hard top on as it does topless!😁

I used to use that car wash semi-regularly!

The 250SLs are a great little car....here is a 1967 I picked up about ten years ago and restored....it isn't going to win any drag races, but it is a great touring car and quite capable in the twisties....civilized fun.

Yes, but let's get back to porn! And for those who know the subject, I'm sure this Colour Climax will be welcome:

A nice irony in that the FW was originally designed to deal with things that had got red hot!

Shame the 16 banger never really got anywhere, but it remains a nice visual stimulant:

Oooohhh! Inflames the passions 👍

But why did a FeatherWeight need four men to carry it? I still have two FW cradles in my reserve storage (back garden). No engines though 🙁

I have not read all 60 pages of this thread yet but I'll get to it eventually.

My fair weather weekend toy since 1995 . . .

I redid the carpeting, dashboard and upholstery about a year ago. It took me about a year to get the job done a little at a time.

That's a bit unfair; like having a nice 'craters' box, but with no Speedy inside.

It's a shame a company with such a charismatic name has been out of business for so long.

Well the 914 is officially home.
And now it is in the shop haha.
But that was the plan all along.
It is DEFINITELY a project, maybe more than wanted, but should know soon enough...

It runs and drives, but does neither very well.
Body and interior work definitely needed, and possibly some frame.
