The 1904? No it was a single cylinder "Light Car". An economy model. The four cylinder Mercedes, Mors, FIAT race cars on the Brighton Run used to come by us making a noise leaving no doubt in anyone's mind that here was a race car and although well over 100 years old it did not like to be slowed down to modern traffic speeds. They had no better brakes than us of course, just 3-4 times higher top speed. Never driven one of those, but if anyone here has one I'd sure like to

Race car gearboxes -- I have had two pure race cars with Hewland Mk 6 one with Mk 8 and one with FT200, all non-synchro. And a few that were originally road cars still with nominal synchromesh. Even then the gear-change that kept the car in balance best was to heel-and-toe. So I do that on the road too if the pedal positions allow.

Doing that is an official driving test fail of course, so although I already knew how to do it I managed to refrain on my actual test. Did get the examiner deposited in the passenger-side foot-well, but he had no grounds to fail me on that ;) ;) ;)

My favourite Ferrari even before the GTO. I watched them racing in period, (I was very young then! )

    On the topic of Ferrari's....

"The final 288 GTO ever made, built specifically for Niki Lauda at Enzo Ferrari's request."

And if Lauda did in fact take possession of this car.....WHY THE HELL DOES HE NOT STILL HAVE IT?!?!
    DOES NOT COMPUTE!

He needed to pay Airbus for the A320s. Very pragmatic man Niki.

Calgary car aficionado Fred Phillips collection. Too many highlight cars to list, but one that is more pulchritude than pornography is the 1953 Fiat that belonged to movie star Lana Turner.

Went for a drive over the weekend; a friend who recently sold his E90 M3 decided to show up with his new steed...

Pismo Beach CA this summer, they all came from Canadian dealers, down for a photoshoot. You can make out ten here, 2 rows of 5. There were 2 more in front of the hotel and a team of valets working on them. IMG_9755.JPG IMG_9756.JPG IMG_9757.JPG

Oups, I forgot he first went with a first-gen Audi R8 V8 before the 488 GTB. Meanwhile, this weekend, I came across a F12tdf which was painted in a rare Rosso TRS (first debuted on F12 TRS) and paired with some gold wheels. Superb!

Hardly pornography. I happened upon this picture from close to 60 years ago. My first car. A 1949 Mercury with suicide rear doors. I had a lot of fun with that car. I was the only one in my group of friends that had a car in 1960. Paid $495.00 for it. In good shape nowadays, these bring substantially more. Anyone else with sentimental rear view mirror pictures of their first car?
