That sucks, sorry to hear man. Are you getting hit while parked or on the road too? I'm thankful I've got a garage spot for mine, but come to think of it I also don't spend much time street parking it on errands or anything.
I was in it stationary waiting to make a left turn from the left lane (the only traffic lane), he’s parked along side and decides to turn left across the front of me from the right lane as if I wasn’t there. None of it has been parked, just people hitting it on the road.

That is insane. Must be cursed!

Reminds me of my first S2000. A week to the day I bought it, someone backed their trailer hitch into it. Then, once that was repaired, a family member backed into it not long after. That was bright red so no excuses (except it was small so maybe in their SUVs they couldn't see it? Who knows)

Here's mine...

Truck decided to try to drive over the top of me this morning while he was pulling out of a disabled bay. Dealing with insurance now, just so sick to death of people constantly hitting my car. It has to be the damned grey color that blends in with the road.

Finally got this sorted out with insurance. Booked in for everything to be replaced, bumper, headlight, fender, driving light, fuel bucket and lid, indicator, liners and ducts in November. The truck driver hit the most expensive 6 inches of the car so the quote came to $14,959 for that scrape.

Thankfully they took responsibility and it’ll come back perfect in a month and a bit.

the "like" is for the result.....not the cost.

Ah, almost as much as I’ve recently paid for a
new clutch and 1-2 synchros on the Turbo. But I’m paying USD too :/

Anyway, worth it cause the car is excellent!

That’s certainly not fun, I’m lucky the truck company stepped up as I don’t have a dash cam yet and they could have disputed it, that’ll be my next purchase.

Is your turbo making a lot more than stock power or was the previous owner just a bit hard on it to cause the clutch and synchro issues?

The latter - seems like someone must've learned to drive manual with it! Car's totally stock except for a CarPlay head unit w/rearview camera, PASM controller and the requisite exhaust (Soul Performance). All well done, by a previous owner (there were a few)

Mostly a Ford Falcon Longreach Ute. (Best described as a working rat rod)
But also a Jaguar Sovereign series 3, a Triumph TR7 (in the process of being repowered by a 4.4litre alloy V8 from a P76, a MGF and a much modified Land Rover series 3 fitted with a Ford 351 Cleveland V8

Can I ask what head unit you got installed? The pccm+ option is not available yet for the 997.2.

His car is a 997.1, manual boxes didn’t exist in 997.2 which is why the .1 is rather well loved.

That said, 997.2 uses almost the same generation PCM as my 991.1, you can take the unit apart and add a third party board which adds CarPlay and even wireless CarPlay to the original PCM 3.x system.

Even though it’s ancient at 15 years old the PCM 3 units have excellent screens and touch sensors, among the best of their era, and CarPlay relies on the phones processing power to do the heavy lifting. As a result CarPlay works really well on these old head units and is as snappy and responsive as a 2023 car.

A previous owner did the installation, it's a Sony unit. Not sure which model as I don't know anything about these things but I can take a photo if it might help.

Oh they had manual boxes at least here in North America - but with the introduction of the PDK, the ratio went from something like 70/30 manual in the 1 to 40/60 in the 2. Hence, manual 997.2 Turbos are worth an absolute mint here. But they don't have the Mezger 😎

Ah it must be the turbo S I was thinking of, I stand corrected.

Yep there was no 997.1 Turbo S and the 997.2 was PDK-only 👍

Thanks! Yeah the Natural Brown interior was a huge reason why I jumped on this one. It's lovely and bright inside even with a solid sunroof.

Gone but not forgotten…09 MT, DD, put 150k miles (not km) and found out that as a .1, even with the Mezger, not worth a mint….
