Well, one- its not a 10k watch to anyone but a fool, to you- its a $901 watch. Two- you have not convinced me that you are legit in any way, always seems to be the guys with piss poor grammar, weird. Wanna buy a Range Rover?
Well according to ebay and a vintage watxh expert and dozens of other people, its worth $8,000-$15,000 (obviously the shape of the watch effects value). I get it, its not a believable story. My wife and I are still enamored by the situation.

Sometimes it's best to just do what you want to do, and shut up about it.

There's little upside to arguing with (or trolling) established members of a community that you supposedly want to engage with, especially when you really have little understanding of the culture. If the only person supporting you joined two months ago, it may be time to use some discipline and let the thread die off.

Or, if you want to burn your bridges, keep going. Link the sales listing. Promote it. When it's sold, crow about your profits. Have a ball. But keep in mind that communication about sales on this forum happens behind the scenes, by PM. If you really want to communicate (as opposed to promote), that's always an option.
Understood. And here's me finally taking your advise and shutting up.

Jealousy is an ugly thing.

Don’t do that, hang around and give all these haters more reasons to stay jealous. They’re the ones with the problem.

Not quite sure why so many (including myself) read through 4 pages of this. I believe zero of this story.
Well I'm at the point of "what happens next?"

I don't see how I "took advantage" of them for asking advise on the value and authenticity of a watch. Do I want to sell the watch....yes. Do I want a different Omega watch....also yes. It's called capitalism and I greatly appreciate all the advise I have received. That advise and community will also contribute to me making a decision on sticking around and learning more, and contributing to said community. Would you look at me with a better light if I were to keep the watch just to keep it, or sell it for whatever price someone will pay?
Actually yes. Watch collecting is about collecting not about buy and sell.

Don’t give up, troll, bite or spit if necessary. Never give up, never back down.

Tbh I’d probably do the same as @squidnut I may sell it to get something I like a little more. I have done such with finds at junk stores I just never had that kinda luck at pawn shops but landed a cool few seikos at a nice price at a particular pawn shop.

I’ve never been a flipper learned I’m not good at it but I’ve done local sales to sell something to buy another

I do not really understand the level of hostility in this thread. Someone asked to confirm the authenticity of a watch and then flipped it. Who cares. I would have kept it but it took me many years to enjoy the Speedmaster over the Seamaster (and I still prefer wearing a Seamaster). I loved the story about buying it cheap (everybody's dream on this forum) and if Squidnut prefers to sell it and buy a Seamaster 300, it is his own prerogative (99% of this forum would have done the same if it was not the exact same watch they were looking for at the time). He is not forcing anyone to buy his watch, if forum members reach out to him to buy the watch then it is their own problem. Lots of hostility with newcomers lately...

Chronos (Χρόνος) : 11h46 C.T.

Kairos (καιρός): : 11h46 pawnshop (the right one)

Love each other!

I appreciate the comment. I've certainly never had any luck at pawn shops, they never seem to have good pricing. I just got lucky with this one in pursuit of finding myself a father's day gift.

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. I was pretty shocked as well with some of the backlash I'm getting from the ordeal. It's not my kind of watch and its certainly 5x my allowed price point. All roads point to sell it and let someone who will truly appreciate it enjoy it.

Moral of the story apparently seems that most veteran members feel that its to good to be true due to the fact that so many grifters have come on the forum and lied to sell via PM and not follow the rules. I personally have seen it as a fairly new paying member even though I have been lurking for a decade. If the story is true and was just amazing luck then of course we are all jealous. I bought a 70’s speedy last year and had amazing help from everyone and wear it every day that I’m not at the firehouse. I wish him well on the journey of selling it and understand the skepticism of others here as well. Good luck 🍀

P.S. I just hit 200 posts after almost 4 years

Anyone who thinks forum members are jealous of the OP doesn't understand the forum.
:whipped:

Forum members have been excited and pleased for everyone who discovers a gem. We love the watches, and a great watch usually has a great story. Many of these watches have been inherited (free). We are happy for the new owners and hope they hang around.

This watch doesn't engender jealousy. The case is nice, the lume is shot. It's an alright watch that most would not suggest buying unless it was cheap.

There are members here who have NOS, which is what makes me envious. There are some watches we wouldn't take for free because they aren't attractive to us. If anyone doesn't understand this, then they don't get the forum.

The OP comes across as a grifter trying to work around the forum rules. Instead of settling for getting his watch noticed, he keeps shagging his horse. Anyone really believe he contacted Wind and worked out a deal that fast? I can't see Wind selling a watch with that dial. This whole story stinks like a river of smelt after spawning. 🤮

Buy the seller. Good luck with that.
:realcat:

Edit: Congrats on 200 posts! Didn't address my response specifically to you. Just used it to respond to others who claimed people were jealous. I appreciate you trying to be a peacemaker.

Cheers

I agree that the watch is really not a keeper, so I doubt experienced members are jealous. And I also doubt many people care if he sells the watch. It’s the attitude.

He's got 30 posts from this thread, so if we keep this thread going another 49 pages, he'll be able to straight up post the watch for sale.

What forumn rules would you be referring to? And I will be back with proof if and when the watch sells and where it is sold. I'm not good at much in this life, but I am resourceful.
