Can't wait to read the sales script for this watch on Wind vintage. /sarcasm
Preview below of a fantasy listing, although Wind wouldn't touch a watch with a dial like this one.
... a $10,000 vintage speedmaster with 1450 holy grail bracelet with 808 end links....

Someone is going to get a hard lesson about how condition affects value, but will still make a good profit.

You have the noob part right, the rest is incorrect though. And yes I am looking to sell it, this is not my style, it does not fit me, and I was looking for as basic seamaster 300m, not a $10,000 vintage speedmaster with 1450 holy grail bracelet with 808 end links....
For a noob, you sure picked up the lingo real fast! /impressed

I wonder if he even knows what "holy grail" refers to in that context.

The story is believable to me. The op is simply on the hunt for his first watch, and happened across a pawn shop full of some bozos. It's a fun story, and hopefully the OP ends up with the watch he wants. I can see a speedy not being a first watch for most people.

I respect your effort to be congenial and accepting of new members and genuine inquiries. However, the mods should just move this thread to the for sale section and let it rest.

Honestly, the way OP went about this is really frustrating/annoying here. I, and many others here, enjoy enabling others to enjoy the hobby and enjoy Omega watches. We help out in threads like this because we genuinely want to have people start loving the watches.

HOWEVER, many folks seem to take advantage of this in an attempt to short-cut the work it takes to make money flipping watches. So OP comes here, seemingly wanting to get a watch they will enjoy and cherish, and then tells us they are going to sell it, shows us that they were taking advantage of the forum's generosity to make a quick buck. AND that leaves a VERY sour flavor in my mouth.

I don't really doubt/care about the story, but frankly if it is true, OP is someone who came here, and took advantage of the forum for his personal financial gain.

Skeptic here for sure. I could definitely see the Pawn Shop owner creating an account to check a value for resale after buying from a collectors kid after a fire sale or a lucky estate picker that never bothered to use their google search but this would mean the owner of the store who uses a loupe to verify silver and gold hallmarks as well as hundreds of valuations a day for a potential profit margin never typed in the numbers stamped on the bracelet either??? Very Suspicious at best………::facepalm1::

Are you just idly wondering or do you have any evidence based on the pictures? From what I can see everything looks correct for a CB
Wondering what, is the watch legit, sure looks like it, no that's not it? Obviously, the pawn shop is a shop of fools or something's off here. Nothing to wonder about, I buy a lot at pawn shops and it is out of the norm for a pawn shop to knowingly sell a "potentially" $10k dollar watch for $900 bucks even if you're good friends with the owner imo.

Just read this.

You really know how to piss off your audience.
Oh I didn't realize everyone in this community loves every single Omega watch ever made....I think i'm entitled to give my opinion on a watch style. I didn't say I hated it, but it's not my exact style. I would wear it, but i'm looking for a watch that I really enjoy and would wear every day. If that pissed people off so be it.

I agree, I thought it unusual that they sell all their high end watches to a wholesaler and not market them to their clients. But it is in a rougher area and I don't think they would sell fast. They trust their watch gu and he buys all their stuff so I don't believe they do any research before he buys them.

Again, their not pissed because you dislike it. They are pissed because you took advantage of them in order to make a quick buck, rather than doing your own work. And you knew it 'wasnt my style' before you bought it.

I have an agreement with Wind to take the watch on consignment....They see it selling for in the range of $12,000.

I don't see how I "took advantage" of them for asking advise on the value and authenticity of a watch. Do I want to sell the watch....yes. Do I want a different Omega watch....also yes. It's called capitalism and I greatly appreciate all the advise I have received. That advise and community will also contribute to me making a decision on sticking around and learning more, and contributing to said community. Would you look at me with a better light if I were to keep the watch just to keep it, or sell it for whatever price someone will pay?

The fact that you don't see it is part of the problem. You took a bunch of charity here (folks helping you value/identify/etc the watch), and are selling it. You were given a gift, and now you're profiting off it. So yeah, people are disappointed.

I would look at you with a better light if you were a good contributor and either gave someone who really wanted the watch an opportunity to get a deal, or only really looked into it because you wanted it, not to make a buck. OR, if you DID want to make a buck, actually did your own darn'ed research and figured it out yourself.

Well I think you're a fool for looking at it that way, and naive to think that's the way the world works. I went to a community to get help, they offered help, and I am grateful for that help. In a perfect world in your fantasy land, I would have given the watch to the poor or let the next person buy it since I am not looking to wear the watch. There should be no one in this world who buys something with intent to sell for more....
