Maybe the pawn guy thought it was a MOONSWATCH 🤣. I personally have scored great deals at thrift stores but never a pawnshop. If anything they inflated the prices.
I had visited 3 pawnshops that day and was shocked on how these places stay in business with their pricing. I seem to never buy anything from pawn shops due to their pricing being retail or more. Never great deals it seems. Then I stumbled across this watch...My guess is they make a majority of their money from actual pawn loans and interest paid

Well I had the back opened up and it is serial number 105012-66 with the 321 movement.
OK, that's the reference number, and it matches what you were told earlier in the thread. You're welcome, you can put it on eBay now.

Not to rain on your parade, but...
Either this is the most ignorant, inept pawn shop in existence or something is way off here?
Pawn shops know what the value of a genuine watch is, so unless they're just stupid, really, really stupid, something's a miss here.
Crack it open and show us the mvt.
edit: I see you opened it, wow, that's one set of goobers running that pawn shop.
I'm wondering if it could be a Frankenwatch?

Are you just idly wondering or do you have any evidence based on the pictures? From what I can see everything looks correct for a CB

The pawnshop has a guy who comes in and buys all their high end watches, the don't mess with them and he is honest and pays them fair pricing according to them. They would like to create another relationship with a watch buyer, hence why they sold it to me and offered me the watch at wholesale pricing. Pawnshops in my area is lower end and there isn't much of a market for high end watches. They would rather buy and immediately sell to someone who buys all their stock, than have the carrying cost, time, effort, and possible fee's (ebay).

Its is weird, but also makes sense, assuming they aren't selling a $10,000 watch to their watch guy for $900. Even with someone knowledgeable on watches, it seems this watch could fly under the radar. It's impossible to be an expert on everything....which is why I went straight to the watch community.

Forgive me of my lack of knowledge. I currently own 6 inexpensive watches (sub $200 each). I started looking into watches 2 weeks ago on getting one for myself for my 1st fathers day. I was in the pawn shop and said i'm looking for a tudor or omega. They brought this out and after seeing the responses back on it, I went back and bought it. I know very little about watches, parts, and what not. Learning a lot in the past 24 hours lol.

Do not get me wrong here, you have found a nice Speedy at an incredible bargain price.
The forum always love a good story, and we happily help people with their questions.

I myself have had (and still have) tons and tons of questions, and received answers from kind and patient members.
Everybody here on the forum has been new to vintage watches, and there are lots and lots of things to be aware of and learn about.

BUT:
You have managed within a couple of days to find a watch, ask the forum about the watch and the VALUE of the watch,
buy the watch and also inform us that you will sell the watch.

Even though there might be some holes in your story,
the issue here is that when we posted information and links about the Speedy that you were planing to buy,
it felt that you did not bother to read the articles (it could have taken some time…..😉),
and instead kept on asking about the value….

Now you know the value (possible),
instead of keeping the watch, taking care of it and enjoying it - you will flip it!

I do hope you understand that this is not so popular here….?

Not quite sure why so many (including myself) read through 4 pages of this. I believe zero of this story.

Yep and now the buyer is looking to sell it. Funny that.

It's just a noob back door sales post guys, possibly from a pawnbroker who scored big time against a mug punter. Treat the whole story with suspicion would be my advice. If you reach out to make an offer direct to the OP, I think you would need your head examining.

I was looking for a Omega Seamaster 300m 38mm for around $2,000, this was out of my range and it's not my style.

Lol I can add a picture of the receipt, but I would be giving away m new watch source. Believe it or not, I had good intentions and simply wanted to see what its value was since they didn't have a price on it and asked that I give my best offer. I also wanted to authenticate it due to my lack of knowledge. Me being brand new to the watch world, had no idea what is was worth due to the values being all over the board. I certainly had zero reason to believe this was worth what is possibly could be.

You have the noob part right, the rest is incorrect though. And yes I am looking to sell it, this is not my style, it does not fit me, and I was looking for as basic seamaster 300m, not a $10,000 vintage speedmaster with 1450 holy grail bracelet with 808 end links....

My apologies for the rush, I left the pawnshop with one single picture, attempting to see what I should offer them and see if it was authentic. I did look into all the posted links on researching the watch. Unfortunately none were helpful as I had one blurry photo. (they are now helpful that I have the watch). That turned into 100 people telling me to go buy it immediately (this forum and reddit). Am I greedy SOB whos in it for the money? Partially yes, mostly due to my non interest in this particular watch and due to the value (I have a new baby and just want a seamaster).

I want to thank you all for the help and recommendations. I hope to preserve this watch and find it a home with someone who will truly appreciate it. I will then take the proceeds and buy a better watch than I could originally afford, put an extra payment on my mortgage, take the wife out to a nice dinner, and reinvest it into my business.

If anyone has any further questions, I would be happy to answer them. I will not be turning and burning from this community like some may think. I truly do want an Omega Seamaster 300m to celebrate my first fathers day (my son was born Jan 1st). I have sent an inquiry to Eric Wind based off a recommendation to either consign the watch or sell it to his company. I will continue to update this post with my findings.

You could probably trade it for a Seamaster 300.

Can't wait to read the sales script for this watch on Wind vintage. /sarcasm
