I read the Omega buckle thread but still cant determine whether this buckle I bought for 50 bucks from eBay is original or not. Could someone take a look and help me out?

I think it could be a new generation fake, especially since it's from eBay

I am afraid so. The condition of the buckle is way good for something that’s supposed to be from the 70s. It looks practically brand new.

The sun logo and the text looked off to me as well, if you share the seller it becomes more apparent, fake sellers have a lot of buckles to sell from a lot of different brands

You are absolutely correct. Lots of them are coming from the East.

Why do you think that style is from the 70s? I have a similar stainless buckle that is much more modern than that.

The sun in the OP pictures looks grossly different from the one @Dan S posted. The rays of the sun look all the same size while the one on the original are long and short alternating to give a burst effect.

The eBay seller I bought it from listed it as from the 70s.

I may be way off base with this comment but here goes. Correct me if i’m wrong.

Dan S’ buckles use shoulderless spring bars because the spring bar holes go all the way through the buckle side wall. The OP’s buckle’s spring bar has shoulders implying that the buckle side wall has no holes.

This no-hole buckle is typical of knock offs commonly seen on sites such as AliExpress, the Chinese shopping site and home to all kinds of fakes.

For this reason and those stated above I am dubious of the authenticity of the OP’s buckle’s spring bar.

FWIW

Well you debunked my theory, but it was fun while it lasted.

Best wishes.
