okay detective. My first post weeks ago was about authenticity.
I mentioned your second thread for no other reason than to show that "you have obviously been pining over it for some time now."

The only reason this has the eBay "authenticity guarantee" is because the seller listed it for over 2k. The authenticators won't be able to do anything other than say the watch matches to photos in the listing. You have already had people in this thread tell you the watch is genuine. You can heed Kaplan's words as he is incredibly knowledgable on c-case's and collects them with a passion. As I said earlier on, you seem keen on spending 2k on this despite others saying it isn't worth that much... who are we to stop you. If you will get enjoyment out of this, by all means purchase it.

But this is not actually a C case Connie, a plated one of which by the way could be purchased at around half the asking price or less, it is an early quartz model, of the kind where parts are no longer available, set by push button and normally priced around the level of f300 hummers. Those are Connie’s that use tonneau cases too but are not referred to as C cases so I’m not sure why this one should be considered so. It’s a watch which even when mint trades in the low hundreds. The obsolescence is a big reason why watches of this era are avoided by many. If it breaks even Omega probably won’t help. The case actually looks local rather than Swiss but if you search on the the inner caseback markings you may find more clarity on whether the dial is factory or not. It could be an Italian market special perhaps. Some funky stuff came out of there in the 70s.

Oh one more thing, the box shown in the first pic does not belong with this watch. It is for an earlier automatic model and has been added to fluff up the price.

Thank you I appreciate the information.
Are there any more modern/less obsolete
day dates?

Ironically the mechanical C cased models that came directly before this using either the 75x and 1xxx mechanical movements are much more easily fixed if that’s the look you are after. The tricky part will the diamond dial, those aren’t often seen. It is a pity it’s on a problematic model here.

The diamonds are more my worry. That’s why I was curious if the face looked authentic. And if everything else looked authentic/original.

it has that eBay authenticity guarantee. But I doubt they check stones.

other guy said it’s worth about as much as a bracelet.
Is that true ? The guy wants 2000 for it.

I know it’s not an exceptionally great condition or wanted model. But I figured diamonds and gold would be worth something.
Kaplan's comment about a fluorescense shot was spot on. As a graduate gemologist I can tell you that the varying degrees (or lack of) of emission is super typical for melee diamonds in groups. I didn't look at the scroll you included, but if you took both UV-LW and UV-SW shots that would be even more diagnostic. You could also remove the movement and test the stones with a thermal conductivity probe. Since moissanite or lab grown wouldn't be in play in this situation, this test would be a positive ID. I think you can be fairly assured just by the UV shot though. By the way, 2Gs is absurd. Again Kaplan is correct that the bracelet is the real item there.

There are a lot of great looking automatic C-case Constellations out there if you really like this style of watch. As padders said though, the diamond indices will be very hard to find on the model. If you like the "Manhattan" style Constellation I've seen a fair amount of the late model (90's-00's) versions with diamonds but they're often paired with precious metals and the asking prices can start to get pretty high and they're typically marketed as "ladies" watches.

i picked up a 35mm, constellation 95’ (50th anniversary). Gold/steel. With diamond indices.

Reference 1304.35

they are very hard to find in men’s sizes. More or less all other diamond omegas are ladies.

but now I’m after a solid gold with diamonds.

you’re way over my head right now bro.

I think you’re saying the diamonds are most likely shit. Though.

and I kind of came to that conclusion myself yesterday.
When I started learning about melee diamonds.

I am curious if the diamonds on my 50th anniversary are shit tho then. Those ones are defintley original
From omega. And they are supposed to be “top wesselton, grade G, pure-vvs” 1.5ct total.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on my valuation but it's definitely not worth $2000

With the dial damage seen, realistically you can find a similar watch for $650 ish if you're not looking for one

If the dial was pristine, I don't think anyone could judge you for splurging, for a collector's grade watch, I think any price is justifiable, but the watch you shared is just in bottom condition

I suggest you bid on this watch in exactly 4d 22h: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1556594967...v88nDMWhdSiKeQweH8fTyq+g==|tkp:Bk9SR5DBts-pYg

There will likely be no competition, and it's a proper mechanical watch with a rare dial

I already have that one in my list and I’m watching it.
You should delete your post so I don’t get any competition. Lol

Haha, I doubt anyone will compete as most men just avoid diamonds - missing caseback logo will require a donor watch as well, it’s a bit of an undertaking

Mine is a solid 14K US market rarity, got it below $2K

It would be surprising if this one reached $1K in this market, my guess would’ve been a single bid no competition win, but I didn’t realise it was a new watch, so some chance of competition

What is with all the different styles of faces? It’s almost like no 2 are the same.

I see them with OMEGA written top/bottom.
Sometimes the other writing is top/bottom.
constellation is sometimes too/bottom.

sometimes has a star, Sometimes doesn’t.

There is a lot to learn for sure. Here is a good place to start:

These 2 are different generation watches, unless you're a dictator, the 1000+ gen C-Case Constellations don't have a star

But even on older generations, there are so so many variations, diamond dials are rule breakers as well, they can have other accompanying oddities, mine has a flat caseback for inscriptions
