Just a note. Franklins BBQ (Austin) and Killeens (Pearland) will have you lining up for hours in the weekend. Better to either hit them during the weekday or look for other options (eg make a pit stop at Lockhart TX)
Regarding watches, there are the Austin and Houston Redbar Chapters. However if you’re looking to purchase then it’ll depend on what you’re looking for when it comes to vintage. Hal Martin’s sometimes has some decent vintage in Houston but it’ll be hit or miss. I’ve heard the same with Austin Classic Watch and Jewelery.
Regarding food, Austin has some amazing micro-brews. Check out the “Hell Yes Helles” at ABGB. For Houston, I know everyone is saying BBQ but do yourself a favor and hit up Goode Co Seafood and order the Campenchana. Shit. Order two. Because I have not been able to find anything close to this.
Now, people have mentioned some casual favorites (eg Local Foods). But I would say there are a handful of other restaurants that you can’t get anywhere else. Ninfas on Navigation (this specific location) is an f*king institution for Texmex. Hugo’s is where you go for traditional Mexican food that you didn’t even know existed. Pondicheri will show you what modern Indian cuisine can look and taste like. And Mala Sichuan Bistro is some of the most authentic Asian Sichuan cuisine Ive had will put some hair on your chest.
But seriously. If you can only go one place hit up Goode Co Seafood.
