Hi guys, My plan (at present!) is to have 4 watches max. With recent forum research (ta everyone) I now have an: 1. Aqua Terra for versatility (casual suits for work, evenings out, or indeed other occasions) 2. Black Bay ditto above, but a bit more focus on casual, plus I wanted to have at least one diver! Interestingly (i'm in a minority here) I tried on the BB58 which I was certain that I wanted, but I preferred this version, so no queues. 3. The aviator is my (very comfortable) knock about watch. Really happy so far. But what is rounded enoigh to fill this fourth space? I'm looking for inspiration. It doesn't have to be Omega (I've also ruled out the 300, Speedmaster and planet ocean, for now). It doesn't have to be new. Lower the budget the better, but up to a few K. I'm 45, slightly over 7" (flat'ish) wrists, and I won't be wearing it for sports. Thanks
I think your collection is missing a more "formal" watch. If I were you, I would go with the Frederique constant Moonphase. Check the brand, very good watches for the price.
Something from Roger Dubuis. Isn’t it obvious? Seriously though - a nice 3590.50 would be at home there.
Gold white dial watch. Covers dress ( and gold and white gives you a great coverage you don’t have yet )
It may be a bit left field, but maybe the complete grab-n-go watch. Cheap as chips, tough as old boots, solar powered and time synch - the Casio GW-M5610
You need a panda Dial chronograph in your life. You don't have any chrono's or lighter dial watches. Then your life will be complete, and you'll be hailed a hero and overall top bloke. Champaign will rain from the heavens and once the "rain" has cleared up it'll be nothing but blue skies forever more!
I think you are really asking the wrong question. Many of us know that the early rooky mistake we made was buying a watch box that was too small. Now 4 is not really going to work, so the real question should be: How large a watch box should I buy? As an interim measure I agree with the white dial dress watch
D'accord! One of each of course. And a five place watch box. Errr, what's the lead time for all that to happen? I've been waiting 50 years for my Carrera to open the heavens......
Thank you so much everyone. Indeed, I'm missing a more formal watch and (or) a chronograph. That's hit it on the head and has narrowed me down nicely. I might not go *full* as formal as can be, else risk limited options for use. Curently exploring the Oris Artelier, Tudor 1926, Nomad Tangent and Frederique Constant as a brand. Luckily I can add to those watch boxes!
Curious why you picked 4 and not 2 or 40? Or 1? I admire the 1 watch connoisseur. Not sure if he exists tho. To answer your question, consider a nice vintage Seamaster or Constellation as dress watch. If you want a dress watch. Or just go with your fav Speedmaster and Submariner and call it a day.
IW371446. Classy, dressy, chrono, can’t go out of style. I was in the same spot as you about 7 years ago and chose a very similar styling but with moon phase. Although, it didn’t last long and the jump to a bigger box after a couple months was necessary . It’s a sickness we have!
I think what you have covers a lot of bases (with alternative straps) - so maybe go for something off the wall / unusual - maybe colourful. Failing that some gold, gold cap or gold hands / markers with a leather strap. Might be time to look at vintage / plenty of people here to help on that front and better for your budget. I am not sure on budget but this is the type of eye candy I am thinking...
