I am sure they are but only if the bracelet has the right lenght otherwise it won't get wristtime

That's where you would take it to a manufacturing jeweler to get it adjusted... if it needed to be shorter. Longer, you are likely SOL.

Stunning watch its a shame that most watches in this condition are bought by collectors who most of the times never wear them ..

As opposed to bought by non-collectors who most of the times have them sat in a drawer before selling on ebay/to a dealer? 😗

I was told by a watchmaker years ago that a lot of these had their bracelets removed and lugs added.

I know, right? Don't like it, just sell it. But they saw all those $$$ (or pick your currency) going to waste in that bracelet, and they wanted the money. So off they came.

There was a member here years ago, magpie or something like that, Sumerian maybe? He got the bug for these and had several examples of several different styles of pie-pan and stepped dial solid gold Connies.
I assumed he was a Prince or something as these were his entry-level collectibles.
Anybody remember him? A search shows nothing but so does a search of my brain.
He would have interesting comments, imho.

Yes I remember him. He grabbed all nice gold watches he saw.
Later, he was trying to sale some if I remember correctly.

The problem is you have a butchered 2853 Deluxe welded to a non-OEM bracelet for €9K . The hallmark says enough to me.

It has some novelty value, but I'd say the 'real' value lies in the scrap gold of the bracelet and mid-case plus the loose bezel/caseback/dial/hands/movement, so certainly nowhere near the asking price.

Butchered today, but back when he had it done. He didn't think so and it was an original mod. Same goes for a great number of items that people mod that are not collectable now, but 40 years from now may be.

Some will see this 32 Ford and say great car. Someone might say the owner butchered it instead of leaving it original

The guy customizing his Harley into a chopper whereas original would be worth 3x the price.

Back then and today. People mod. It's the I want a unique look satisfaction people get when they have something most others don't
