I always thought it was best to have about a 90 degree bend in the knees, anything less than that can cause issues elsewhere...
Plus, I feel like my desk would have been up to my chest hah.
Same here. But I am not talking much, I dropped down probably 0.5"-.75" (1-2cm) so I dont think its an issue for overall posture. Or I may have simply been sitting too high before, I dont know but that small drop helped a lot. More like the inside leg of "The Trance" and was probably more in "The Swipe" (inside leg) before. Pictures help! 馃榾

@vbrad26 did you return your HM aeron chair? I bought mine 1 week ago and I am suffering from lower back pain badly. I can't even sit on this chair for 1 hour. I am looking at steelcase gesture now but will try to sit before i buy. There is a reddit thread on aeron with back pain issues.

I did...check the previous page.
There are plenty of threads on Reddit about people experiencing pain with the Aeron. Turns out it definitely isn't for everyone.
From all my research, there can definitely be a bit of an "adjustment period". Some people would say this would be a couple days up to a month.
I had the chair for around 6 months before I finally gave up. I went way too long. That thing wrecked me.
It gave me more problems than I had before and I'm still not right since then.
I have the Gesture now and it was probably the chair I should have went with from the start. I've personally been very happy with it.

The thing about "trying out" a chair is that most chairs initially feel good when you only sit in them for a couple min.
So if you really want to try one out I recommend whipping out your phone and keeping yourself occupied for about an hour and see how it feels after sitting for that long.

Where is the Aeron hurting you? Butt, legs or back?

@vbrad26 I read all the 3 pages and was just checking if Aeron somehow worked for you. my chair is in a return period within 7 days and is expensive for me AU$2060. I don't think it's working for me and not sure what's special about this chair. I used a cheap $150 chair before this for 4 years with no back issues. However, with this one I can't even sit for 1 hour it hurts in the lower back real bad. The butt was hurting on day 1 because of tight mesh but seems ok now. What's funny is that I have used the same chair in the office for 4 years without issues but now I realize that sitting posture in the office is very different from that at home and we don't sit so long in the office. I will try gesture now in a showroom for at least 1 hour

Two Aeron chair person for 30 years, office, home... no physical issues.

Had both refurbished a time or two by a local guy.

Hint for more comfort......get a set of shearling auto seat covers and wrap them up.

Yeah I'd return the Aeron while you are still in the window and check out the Gesture!
Sounds like exactly the same story as mine.
Always had a crap chair, but no issues. Decided to try something new and it backfired lol.
I tried it with and without the PostureFit and every possible setting.
Even when I thought I was making progress getting the settings just right, I wasn't.

For what its worth, I even took the lumbar out of my Gesture.
All it is is a cheap, hard piece of plastic that you slide up or down.
In my opinion, it totally defeated the propose of the nice flexible seat back the chair has.
I'd order it without it if possible. You can remove it after the fact, but not without taking the seat back apart.

I have been using a herman miller aeron size C since I hurt my back badly in 2016, and was using my chair a lot for WFH plus gaming

In 2016 I ordered casters from a company called Caster City. I spoke to the owner Owen and told him I was a heavier person over 300lbs and he recommended I use a 3 inch gray rubber wheel

I have been using the same replacement wheels for 8 years now and ordered another set of wheels for a new herman miller aeron sice C chair I ordered for downstairs office usage

This is what I ordered : https://www.castercity.com/product/chair-furniture/3-gray-rubber-dark-chrome-elite-furniture-caster/

They also gave me a steep discount for reordering

I dont use a floor mat to protect my carpet or hardwood now, the wheels are soft to the point you can dig your fingernail into them

This is good to know - can't say that I like the idea of $100 plus shipping for a set, but probably isn't a bad price compared to all the "keyboard slap" brand ones from Amazon.

Lkjxdsblzhg - this is the new brand name I just got by doing a keyboard slap.

I鈥檝e had a HM Embody and an Aeron Remastered for a long time, I alternate between them which I find is best for me but both do a great job keeping my back in good shape.

My gf has worked from home a lot in her new job in those two chairs and just recently started spending a lot of time in the office with their $50 junk chair and now she has a sore back, it鈥檚 remarkably how much of a difference they make.

I will mention that I had the original Aeron too at one stage which was a great quality chair but really did almost nothing from a posture and back support perspective. The Embody was when they really figured it out, and the Aeron remastered, while looking the same has a vastly superior posture fit system and is much better for your back than the Aeron classic.

I'm a big fan of the secretlab chairs. I remember when we got Aeron's at our office, they were uncomfortable, but then the 'fitting specialists' showed up, went through personalized adjustments for each person with their chair and then the chairs were...still uncomfortable, at least for me. I'm a bigger dude, so maybe that was it, since other folks seemed to like them. I bought a secretlab titan xl (or something) for my son (who is 6'5"+) and it was very comfortable, so now we have two of those. 馃榾 no back pains from it.

I traded my Timex sinclare black watch made from a kit when I was in high school for the chair I am still sitting in some thirty years later. I have no idea what it is. Other than I have spent a significant part of my life sitting on it. Litterally years over three decades. edit : and the last 7 hours uninterrupted writing thee posts hitting command R -even skipped breakfast and lunch since the stuff here today is so stimulating and quite the endorphan hit : edit

Anyone want to hazard a guess?

Apple had a lot of Herman Miller furniture. The cubicle walls. The computer retailer Infomax/Computerland. Copied this for the in store apple Apple corporate look. I do not think this is HM though. Was some sort of corporate chair sold by some startup that failed. Had a fairly high price tag on it.

Sometimes I regret trading the watch. The electronics department when I was in school was also given the returns for the computer kits. I had a bunch of those. I traded the whole box of stuff to one of the surplus dealers. I used to visit them on my lunch breaks when working at Apple. They were full of the stuff failed dreams were made of.

Still when I think about it the chair was the better deal. But that was a really rare watch and would have been fun to brag about.

We got the Aeron chairs about 7 years ago at work- a huge step up from the overly padded 90鈥檚 corporate high-backs we had which were god awful. Mine was uncomfortable at first but I read the instructions and got it dialed it. Anytime I sit at anyone else鈥檚 desk (grab the chair for a chat with someone else) I almost slide out or fling backwards. Seems nobody else learned how to adjust them properly.

Sitting in my steelcase gesture with headrest right now. 馃榾
I actually had to get it replaced 2 times because of some niggling issues. But been 2 years since and it's great.
