“Low ball offers will be ignored”

My brain says, “I’ve absolutely no idea how you define a low ball offer, clearly I don’t want to offend you, or be ignored for that matter and I definitely won’t let you sway me to think your asking price is “fair”, especially When the statement about your price says that it’s probably not. Therefore, I won’t give you an offer of any kind (even the full price) it’s just not worth the emotional investment and potential risk on my part”.

Controversially perhaps, I frown upon those who put the price in the title. Its not often seen on here but to me it screams Walter Mitty Trader. Taken objectively, it actually makes a lot of sense to put the price with the item to help people sift through the listings but I still don't like it. Oh and I don't like all caps either.

eg: MINTY SPEEDY REDUCED JUST $3995 FIRST TO SEE WILL BUY NOS BNIB FSH (but no box or papers or service history proof)

"Original" is still my pet peeve in seller descriptions of vintage watches. Unless you walked off the assembly line with the watch in your hand 50 years ago you have no frickin' idea of parts are "original" to the watch. Use "correct" please. As in, "correct hands."

And "watch head only" ... WTF? I want the torso and limbs too dammit, not to mention the internal organs!

I don't mind this. I wouldn't want to wear someone else's strap. Bracelet I would.

Or all acronyms:
FS-LNIB SMP FIOS, $7k OBO....LMNOP

I don’t need you to spell it all out but a little effort would be nice.

I like it actually. It's SOP on some forums. I really hate when the price is below the photos in the listing. At least put it up front and easy to find.

That’s a good point. 9 paragraphs of flowery prose listing irrelevant nonsense about the exquisite timepiece and its back story then 20 photos and finally the price in 8 point font hidden at the very bottom. There should be a happy medium surely.

Doesn't bother me but I'm getting very cautious to the point where I might shy away.
I prefer selling without any subjective add-ons unless I'm getting asked for a thing very specifically.

I find it frustrating digging through paragraphs of flowery descriptions looking for a price.

The worst for me is when the sellers don't include the size of the watch.

True but I also know why this is done. It’s like an infomercial for some crazy gadget on tv. You have to watch for 4 minutes before they mention the low-low price. By that time you’re convinced that every family member needs one of these things.

“Call in the next 20 minutes and we’ll double your nato straps (separate shipping and handling)” 😁

"Not seeing enough wrist time lately"

i.e My watchmaker has said something will need to be replaced soon and I need to shift this before it fails and I'm stuck with the repair bill.

"As a buyer, does it bother you when..." I see all these gorgeous watches and I don't have enough money... Bloody yes!! 😡

"Low ball offers will be ignored" ... This one for me. I understand the objective, but I find it aggressive... Almost presumptuous, like who are you to even propose me such an amount lol

A simple and polite "I'm afraid I can't accept that offer" etc etc ... If you put something for sale, take the time to properly and politely answer.

Basic respectful communication.

Oh I forgot this one... the "xxxx $/€/£ FIRM"

Again for me, secondhand sales includes a bit of negotiation, discussions on price. Nothing disrespectful, just like when I'm at a flea market, or antic shop. To create a dialogue with the seller. And both sides are welcome to refuse/accept eachother's offer. It is part of the game.

Don't get me wrong, it is not always the case that negotiation happens, but sometimes the "FIRM" ... Follow by 5 bumps and a sixth one with a "Reduced Price" makes me laugh

Ok that one realllly pushes the boundaries of the whole 'respecting the seller asking whatever they want' idea... 🤬

I don't understand this comment. Case and bracelet are solid 18K. A Speedmaster 57 in solid gold (there isn't a 38 with a gold bracelet) is $36,000 MSRP. That watch is $13,500.
