As a buyer, does it bother you when...

One that always irks me is when the seller is trying to present something as a tantalizing tidbit of insider info offered in parenthesis like (rare model) or (Rolex) when listing a Tudor.

Last reduction...

Really last reduction...

This is my favorite. I love to keep track of these. 🤦

I can't stand "from my private collection"

This.

What exactly does this mean? Do they have a public collection? I can half-understand if some well known watch dealer with huge turnover would state this (and it is a top top quality piece), but it still means nothing to me and I am certain all dealers sell their private watches in their regular stock without stating this in anycase (can't say I have seen any state this because it adds zero meaning/value, most watches they sell are their in anycase (unless on consignment) so its mostly moot). Idiots!

"Unless, it doesn't sell - in which case there is the possibility of several, even lower last reductions, but act now as it won't last long at the current last reduction price"
Haha. Exactly. There is nothing after 'the last reduction' other then 'withdrawn'!

On the other hand, I see some real head-scratchers in the other direction as well. There was a listing recently where the seller listed an asking price, and then wrote something like "there is slight room for negotiation". What?

Then there is the

“Last chance folks, then it’s off to the bay”

So are they taking it holidays !? It’s a dress watch and probably not waterproof, so not a good choice for the bay. 🤨

I can't stand "from my private collection": who cares?
And the "Calatrava" word used inappropriately.
You hit the bullseye twice on your contribution - well done!

I am inclined to allow one exception for the use of Calatrava with brands other than Patek. The alliteration aesthetic of Caravelle Calatrava has a pleasant ring to it as it rolls off the tongue.

If Patek ever ventures into composite-cased, LCD-display time pieces, I would also forgive its use with Casio for the same reason.

What bothers me the most is when every defect on a watch magically finds an exotic name.

My favorite is when a buyer low balls the seller with their offer and includes the word "cash" after typing the dollar amount.

Cash?? What other means would you use to pay for the purchase of this item off of a random Joe selling something off of Facebook or an internet forum? LOL. Credit? Layaway? Barter?

I’m always amused by the legalese “I’m not a dealer and have no affiliation with Rolex, Omega, JLC, etc. I’m just a private collector who exchanges watches” blah blah blah.

I’m not sure what this is legally protecting them from and I also don’t think this statement would actually hold up in any sort of court. Yes you have no affiliation with any watch manufacturer but you’re most certainly a watch dealer

My most hated:

"Minty"
I am 100% on-board with you. I will not consider any ad that uses this word. It is total BS.
