...a seller lists an absolutely absurd price, but thinks putting the word 'just' or something like it in front of the number somehow makes it a fair deal? Two recent examples from elsewhere: "I'm listing this at JUST 2,995 USD" - an older base model A/T on aftermarket NATO, no bracelet/box/docs "Own a legend for JUST 2,795" - an older Speedy reduced on a 6" max bracelet with a malfunctioning chrono feature When I sell, I always state that it is an asking price and I'm happy to talk details over with anyone. I'm all for people asking whatever they want, but at least be honest about it. Are there any other buyers immediately turned off by garbage like this?
...for the bargain price of... ...get it before it’s gone.... ...limited supplies.... ...one of a kind (particularly pertains to Rolex of which there are millions).
I assume there must be a lot of stupid buyers out there. Unless it's very unique if you want to sell something you need to price it at the market. The speedy reduced is comical there are constantly lots available so from my point of view its a buyers market of course I have no interest in a reduced at any price
Uneducated buyers... not stupid. Plus FOMO, fear of missing out. I promise you that anyone who has bought 3 or more watches has moved to quickly at some point and regretted a purchase.
On a similar note if the seller puts something like "this won't hang around long at this price!", It's a near guarantee that it will. "SALE" on a second hand newly listed item is one that always amuses me The absolute worst is putting something like,"WOW!" In the title, that type of thing is enough to stop me even considering whatever it is that is being sold. On the bright side at least we rarely see the once commonplace L@@K any more.
I can't stand "from my private collection": who cares? And the "Calatrava" word used inappropriately.
"If no one buys it this weekend it is going on eBay" ...followed by 6 more months of bumps and occasional price reductions.
This is exactly why I wouldn't judge someone was stupid or uneducated for paying a price that they clearly think is fine, for something that they really want. I'm sure I've overpaid for watches, but if I did I didn't give it a second thought - the ones I missed still haunt me...
I always get annoyed at the “don’t really want to sell it but” now sometimes people clarify that and say due to a family emergency or being out of work etc, that is completely understandable but it’s the other ones where it’s just obviously a line, that one bothers me.
"Unless, it doesn't sell - in which case there is the possibility of several, even lower last reductions, but act now as it won't last long at the current last reduction price"
