Also, how would you describe this pocket watch? It’s too floral for Art Deco I feel, maybe I could start a ‘Chintz’ watch thread 😉

I'd describe that as "Art nouveau", more circles and flowery than deco

Definitely not art-nouveau. Sorry.

This is my example of Art Deco architecture - many a Saturday morning spent here watching old Flash Gordon movies, etc. It used to be the Rayners Lane Odeon cinema, and there were three similar versions. Sadly one was demolished and the other was covered by cladding in the 70s.

Strange to see something on here which is about a 20 minute walk from where I live.

I saw this in a video about the history of Elgin watches. No detail about it in the video, but a very cool watch 😎

Should you be interested in the history of Elgin.

The Tiger and Lady watch has been featured in this thread before:
Beautiful watch!
Usually seen with gilt hands and numerals; this variant works well.

I saw this Wittnauer alarm watch on ebay. I'm not quite sure how to classify those numerals - maybe somewhere between art deco and German expressionism.

A Bulova Excellency/Ambassador/??? I recently picked up. Had been looking for a white tank style case off and on for a while and couldn't let this one go by. Might be a little late for true Art Deco (post WWII), but it's definitely of the style.

This absolutely wonderful piece is up for auction here in Denmark later this month (at a fairly aggressive evaluation of +€2k)... Wouldn't mind presenting a selection of pre-war watches and a few other items in it 🥰
