That is a bit special, is the case a gold cap?
It is indeed, 14k gold bezel and gold capped lugs over stainless steel case😉

I bought a moonswatch today.

Least that’s what I’m gonna tell my wife it is…
That's awesome. Someone did a short video about this one titled "It's not a f****n moonswatch". LOL

Hah, I figure if anyone wants to compliment me on my moonswatch I'll just smile and nod. Dunno if I'd still wear it out touristing around some of the pickpocket hotspots out there but it's going to make a fine travel watch!

Old school.
No movement pic, I could see it didn't work, but the price was right for a gamble.

Just bought tonight at auction.

Both in running order from a trusted ( by me) seller.

Price? way too cheap, I was the only bidder on the Sterling silver cased chronograph and the Enicar attracted no bids but was offered post auction 20% cheaper so how could I refuse especially when the original asking price was only about US$40.00.

This mornings haul of new to me watches.
All in perfect working order. The Enicar particularly impressed me as it's the closest thing to NOS though it appears to have been worn at some stage in the last 50 years, absolutely perfect.
As for the GMT I have been on the look out for a nice mechanical and this fitted the bill.

I wasn't expecting this one to arrive so soon. I recently visited the Rolex Boutique to express my interest and 15 days later I received the call for my first Rolex.

Walked into an antique store in the desert and saw this ol’ Nivada Grenchen Antarctic. Decided to take a chance on it because it looked pretty original, the price was a bargain, and the condition looked pretty good for its age. Needs a new crystal and obviously the bracelet is not original, but it appears to have a pretty’s sharp case and decent dial. I don’t know much about these so I’ll ask those more familiar, how does it look to you?

I said to myself I wouldn’t buy any more watches after my recent purchases but I was able to find this brand new at a good price in Japan…
My mate lent me his Phenome strap until I can source a 21mm one.

I look forward to seeing it once it’s been cleaned up. Is it 35 diameter, like the new reissues?

I’m looking forward to it being cleaned up as well. Already dropped it off at the watchmaker to get a new crystal. Once it’s back I’ll measure the case for the diameter, but yes it looked to be 35mm or just a hair under. I believe the reissue was intended to be a carbon copy of the vintage ones.

Seems strange to reply to my own post but figured I’d share how the watch looks now that I’ve got a new crystal on it.

Now that is a great result, love the furniture on that dial!

Today went thrift shop browsing and came away with these 2.
Paid $6.00 each, perhaps I over paid.

The Roamer womens watch has no discernable wear to the case whatsoever which surprised me given it's age, just needed to polish the lens and put a new strap on.

The Buren, well what can I say there is no disguising the extreme wear to the chrome case but there is little wear to the brass case beneath it. The movement is pristine with many watchmakers service marks.
That dial however is all patina, probably to much patina for most but it is what it is.

Both watches are running very well but obviously can do with a service ( which I don't think I will do).
The Buren really is a vintage patina master!
Some will love it but most probably might shy away.

All I have done to both of these watches is polish the lenses and clean the cases.

Roamer daily rate
