The postman came by today and I‘m quite excited. It‘s a „pre-Seamaster“ 2494 produced in 1947 (according to the serial #) with a rather uncommon dial.

I was fortunate enough to see this one pop up on our sales forum a few weeks ago:

So after having been drooling over @Darlinboy ’s beautiful no-date snowflake for so many years, I had no-choice but to pull the trigger!

It's been a few years since I bought anything modern but when Nivada Grenchen released their Stone dial F77 collection I was floored and clicked BUY immediately.

Went for the Aventurine dial and I have zero regrets. It fits my wrist perfect with its 37mm case size, bracelet is solid without being unwieldy and the links are thin enough for my liking - not the chonky sort.

Gotten be wristing this a lot this week!

Thanks to @seekingseaquest for spotting it, and to @iamvr to telling me about it...

This arrived on Monday. It will need to go to the spa, quite dirty I must say.

Based on the serial number, it's from 1941, and it's 35mm and with a good wrist presence

Clearly a Nomos knock off 😉

Been on a watch buying spree this week, here is a selection of some of them.

All seller pics.

I needed a watch to monitor for Afib so bought a Fit Bit Sense.

The Roamer 44 I had to buy as I have bought every one that has appeared on the NZ local auction site since 2018 ( I have quite a few 44's now 😀 ) none have escaped me but this ones oem crown looks a little worn so I bought the 2nd 17 Jewel Roamer for its better identical crown to use on the 44 as new correct crowns are next to impossible to find now at reasonable prices.

Then the Hamilton Military issue 24 hour Pocket Watch as how the heck could any one pass one of these extremely desirable RR accuracy specced PW's.

A rare purchase of a complete Ticking Omega. 165.002. I have been having fun sourcing the 55X parts for the dynamic. This has the 550 base model movement. Most of my other watches of this era are in plated cases, I have been wanting a SS case for some time.

Was surprised the no reserve auction went for so little. Less than some of my recent projects sourcing the missing parts.

There are a number of things wrong with this, I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader to figure out.

After 25 years of wearing the same Tissot PR100 every day (packed with sentimental value and still going strong), I decided it was time to pick up a smarter, grown up watch for the office - and bagged my first Omega a few weeks ago: a sapphire sandwich 3861.

The problem was that I then realized I needed (craved) a proper watch for downtime and travel, and the SMP300 showed up soon afterwards… then I found this forum…

I’ve been lusting over the Blancpain Leman for a good few years, finally pulled the trigger. It came with the bracelet, but being a strap guys I immediately swapped it out — it’s terrifyingly comfy!

I was so excited but it lost a chunk of lume in shipping 😡. And I think There's a tiny fiber under the crystal!

Oh well, first world vintage watch collecting problems.

The lume seems to be in one piece so far. Y'all think a watchmaker could glue it down so that I don't have to have the whole thing relumed?
