Just got this back from my watchmaker after a full service and lens change.
Stunning like new dial and I really love that caseback.

Managed to source this little beauty locally.

I just stumbled upon a very similar watch two weeks ago in a local antique shop, but could not really tell what it was and left it there due to the small size and high price. It is supposedly a bumper. Do you know something about it?

Mine is a bit contemporary version, probably mid or late 70s, highly likely with ETA 2873. There are interesting stories about the company. They are still active. There are related OF posts.

And for general story you may have a look at this wiki.

May I ask what was the asking price for that? I bought mine for 100 USD.

Thanks a lot for the links, I will go through it and see if I can date the watch in question. From what I saw at first glance, the bracelet seems to be original.

The shop had a price tag of 480 on it, which would have been around 20 EUR in local currency, so I told them that I'd take it, at which point they informed me that it is meant to be in EUR. 😵‍💫
However, a discussion with the owner revealed that he has a JLC at home for sale, which I shall inspect in due time. Hopefully his expectation on that one is more reasonable.

36mm Explorer 1 arrived today. I am unbelievably grateful to my AD and salesperson (L.K.), both are a dream to work with. I have the 39mm as well. It’s my youngest’s birth year watch, and I will never part with it until he’s ready for The Big Handover, perhaps on his 21st birthday.

I think that one will now go into storage. It’s finally fallen out of timing spec, and has seen almost five years of either daily wear or regular rotation. This 36mm fits my (6.5”) wrist to a tee; I really much prefer watches of this size. It’s a more restrained presence, and it’s a callback to my youth and what constituted the right size for a man’s watch.

Anyway… ramble-ramble.

New to me.
So excited. Always wanted an open heart and zenith is so choice imo.
The craftsmanship is unlike any others.

Nice one! The patina looks familiar..
Thanks and indeed... you got the no lume sister 😀 I really like the dial, quite something! I notice yours says Swiss versus mine says Swiss Made, my 3 other ones only say Swiss. I have seen others with Swiss Made on dials, but fewer than just Swiss. Would you know why such difference in the labeling?

Received this in the mail a few hours ago 😀

Pretty happy with the overall condition. Especially the uniformity of the lume patina. It’s a bit deceiving in the photo but in front of me it all looks even.
