Seiko 2020 Prospex Black Series Limited Edition SPB125J1

Not many by most the standards of most on the forum, but with 3 Omegas I decided I needed to attempt to buy something else for at least one purchase - makes a nice functional daily watch without the concern of bashing it about a bit that I have with some of the Omegas (also bough it second hand but mint, which helps a little!).

This arrived friday.

1904 Elgin 156, 16 size 3 finger bridge movement, 21 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, gold train, 14k huntercase.

The movement, Elgin's top of the line then, was $100 uncased in 1904, a lot of money back then.

And then you had to buy the case and have the jeweler put it together.

I dropped it at my watchmaker for a service before I start wearing it.

He says he doesn't like these movements because they're "too European".

Well... what the hell does he know!

C.D.Peacock is still around and claims to be Chicago's oldest retailer.

Here's the second of my Oscilloscope clocks. This one is based on the fabulously cool vacuum-tubed Hewlett-Packard 120B instrument from the early 1960's. Its round screen, killer screen bezel, and no-nonsense industrial demeanor is perfect for the DeafboyCave.

Have a look at the first incarnation, based on the Tektronix 520A NTSC Vectorscope.

Two nice eBay finds. A 1950 reference 2635 caliber 351 bumper and a 1962 reference 14704 caliber 552. Both fully original and should clean up nicely. I'm particularly happy about the 2635 - even the strap and buckle are original Omega and it also came with the original box and paperwork!

This beauty arrived today...

Outstanding. Never thought I’d buy a geographic and it’s always been the least appealing of JLC’s master control line to me... This came up at an excellent price though so I couldn’t resist. Have to say it absolutely goes above and beyond my expectations in person. To think that I got this piece for less than a Rolex OP kinda blows my mind.

Really nice. Rolex makes a fine watch, but they are not in JLC’s league.

JLC has really excellent dial finish. The best IMO.
