Very very pleased with my last arrival, so I wanted to share with you

Seiko DX 6106C movement with 8240 case just arrived this morning. These are the after shots after replacing the crystal with an original NOS crystal (it came in with a cracked and scratched crystal) and after a good thorough cleaning of probably 50 years worth of grime and gunk that wouldn't allow the quickset day and date to work.

    (before pic, from the listing)

This is the first watch I've ever tinkered with so I'm both happy and proud !

I need a daily wearer, as a few have pointed out I am not the most gentile with my watches and it shows on my 2254.50 bezel. But haven’t found anything I like to wear as much, this is the next candidate.
First impression pretty positive, a bit thick and I would like a bit more of a brushed finish but otherwise l like the look. The rubber strap isn’t the best but I have a Hirsch on the way to take care of that. We will see after a week if it stays in the wrist.

Grab the original jubilee for it. Try it-you'll like it.

Thanks, I’ll see if I can find one. I’m usually not a bracelet person but can’t hurt to try it!

Pretty sure HLC is correct for the seventies Carreras. For the Camaro I think it was HLA. What’s amazing about this is how tight everything is. I’ve got another GF BOR that came on an Autavia, and I’d have said it was in pretty good condition with little stretch, but compared to this it’s pretty obvious it has stretch.

I was looking for something to wear with rugged outdoor clothes, motorcycle gear and so on when I first tried this on last year. It just sang to me, but wasn’t fit for purpose so I bought an Oris Chronoris. It didn’t scratch the itch so I kept looking. I got the Tudor black bay bronze and it’s perfect and exactly what I wanted. But then my AD called with an offer and so now I have the one that sang to me in the beginning. I guess I’m an Omega man deep down. Can I call it the Great White?

One owner Longines RR280 ref 8303. Dial is pristine, only marks are on the crystal. Been looking for one for years. Solid write-up about them here: http://watchexpertise.com/?p=35

Wasn't expecting this to arrive until Tuesday with all the Easter bank holiday mail shenanigans...

And wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. Much better fit on my stupid child wrists.
