It's next to impossible to win now days with people using proxy bidding software. I just start a stop watch and try and hit it at the last second. And hope the proxy program doesn't have the 1.5 seconds it needs to refresh

I hear you about the proxy bidding.

There is some nice fishing on that site...I have picked up a few pieces there. The site’s “clock” seems rather rudimentary which, perhaps, provides some advantages to a sniper.

Please provide an update on the Gruen chronograph once you receive it. It looked like a very nice piece. Cheers

20190111_132956.jpg 20190111_124318.jpg runs great. It had an engraving on the side of the case as well , which is frustrating. But it can be sorted.

    Talking with my watchmaker yesterday...

I think I may have ordered a Bulova Oceanographer.

Suppose I'll find out next time I'm by.

Excited to share with the forum my newest addition; a minty fresh Speedmaster Mark 40 Triple Date "Shumacher" (ref. 3820.53) with perfectly patinated tritium numerals and hands.
Despite this watch not being "actively on my radar", finding this example, virtually unworn and a complete kit, with box, papers and the original strap made this an easy, though impulsive, pickup.
    Now to the pics...

The factory finishes are still readily apparent

All functions are working and it's keeping great time, so I will be enjoying this on the wrist for a few days, then off to the spa for tune up prior to regular duty in the rotation!

Happy Birthday to me! Just received this Seamaster in time for my "big day". It was part of an online auction I recently ran across for a "lot" of eight watches....the other seven watches were women's cocktail watches, of all things. The auction photos were fuzzy at best, and there was no description of the watches. The Seamaster's case looked like it might be a 1958, my birth year, so I decided to take a flyer and bid. The watch did turn out to be a 1958, and appears to be in good original condition.

Goodwill? Looks much better than in the listing, that’s for sure. Is the bracelet signed omega or generic?

Yes....listing photos were poor, to say the least. My watchmaker said the crystal is original, and also believes the bracelet to be original, however, the clasp appears to have been changed -- i.e., there is evidence that the original clasp was likely damaged.

Not often do I come across such lovely patina on DJs. Sharp 1603 with uncommon sword hands and sunburnt patina.
