Arrived this morning, and promptly separated from its wrist cheese encrusted flexi. 30mm of radium illuminated goodness.
The watch I was referencing, which has a similar but smaller case design as the Rodney, is the Hamilton Secometer B. It was produced 1948-52, and ended production the year prior to the Rodney going into production. Attached is a side-by-side photo of the two watches (photo source: http://www.hamiltonchronicles.com/2012/08/1953-rodney.html)
Thanks! It was a tough decision, between black and white dials... my AD had both in stock, until my wife casually looked at them and said “the white looks like my dad’s watch (Timex).”
Love the Speedmaster. I noticed a sales person wearing it at an Omega boutique. Like all watches it looked much bigger at a distance. It has a very classic elegant look, love the discreet bezel and black white contrast.
First modern watch purchase in a dog's age. It overcame all of my deep-seated prejudice against faux-vintage. After a couple of weeks, I remain very impressed.
A couple of lucky finds... Rolex 6636/80 and 7836/380 bracelets. Hat tip to @southtexas for help authenticating them And now I just need to find a pair of suitable watches, I was thinking perhaps a 5512 Submariner and a 1675 GMT... are those affordable these days ?
One of my absolute favorite modern watches, it's just a rotating bezel shy of perfection. Welcome to the club
