Beautiful, love the lugs and the sharp case. Don't get too carried away in UG, I already have enough people to fight off to little supply that is on the market.
Just landed last night, from Houston (yes, really ). An honest-condition 105.012, which I had all but given up on trying to find at an affordable price. Given that I paid about half of what seems to be the going rate for 105.012s lately - and with all the reports of scams in the past few days - I had a pretty anxious weekend and first half of this week!
Thanks! It’s keeping really good time too. eBay. I may have bought on the high side, but find another for less in as nice condition. I get patina. I’m just not a fan of wearing, or spending five figures on a watch with all sorts of visible damage and nasty deterioration. Beauty, as always, is in the eye of the beholder. We all get to build collections based on our own view and vision.
We had a vault yard sale @ my work for non-paying customers & I'm a digger, so pulled this out of a box & my BIG BOSS said I could have it for free. Vintage Junghans Travel alarm clock- pretty cool stuff
Looks like we'll have to settle on degrees of stunning, otherwise the term will become meaningless with over use. Some stunning presentations on this thread.
Looked for an historic endpoint of my small Universal Geneve collection. I thought a tuning fork watch from 1960/70 would be great. Just found this for a decent price, like the roman numerals, the hands and the interesting case design. Might need some cosmectics and a new strap, but I think it´s worth...
145.022-76. Arrived Wednesday, scratched, covered in decades of dirt. 48 hours later the diamond shines!
Thanks! I was lucky to spot it. One thing I’ve learned in decades of collecting ‘stuff’: condition, condition, condition. Given that most of the vintage Speedmaster we see are valuable, to one degree or another, it’s easy to lose sight of how important condition is. its now on an alligator band, to save the 1039, which, while beautiful, seems fragile to me, even compared to the 1171 on my 145-022.74/76.
The watch looks good, considering the photos lack of detail. That is a nice Stelux bracelet, but I don't see the end links. Hopefully they are included.
Miserable sad day ... see pet thread. Tempering factors were the return from service of two of my UG’s with hopeful news on my Choc Polerouter (now in test) and the arrival of this absolutely magnificent salmon Ardarth on a new strap from the Dink. Wife and I will be drinking many toasts to our departed friend.
Here is the thread.. lost my best buddy today. Hopefully pet owners understand (Dedicated to pets) ??
