I was doing my day job this weekend so I couldn't do my usual sweep of the auctions, boot sales and flea markets but I did leave three commission bids on three items I really liked the look of. One of them won. Just one (I hope that JLC found its way to someone here for 拢1900 plus buyer's fees). Anyway, I got this box:

100 years of tar and nicotine stains came off surprisingly easily with some saddle soap and renaissance wax while the front piece and (original) glass hides this (OK, it's not a watch) ...

All I can tell, with my very limited knowledge of carriage clocks is that it's French and probably late 19th century. There's a 94 stamped into the back of the case and a sales receipt from 1927 from the Anglo Swiss Watch Co of Calcutta. Do we have any carriage clock experts on the forum who can add anything to the history?

I'm now debating how much, or how little, I should clean the case .... I really needed a clock for the living room and this has such a wonderful "tick" .

Early Reverso 馃榾

I don't know Kyle 馃槖, Dennis tells me the batteries for those very early ones are really hard to find.

One owner Gallet "Snow White" with original box

Is this the one off eBay a few weeks back? I was looking at it but didn't end up following up with DMs w/ the seller.

Not exactly a watch buy but the bezel is something special to me. Took about 3 years and the luck of @ChicagoFrog (we all know how lucky he is) to get it.

Felt the D blue needed to be on rubber. I chose RubberB because I can use it with my glidelock. All watches should have glidelock. This fat water bag seems to expand and contract a lot.

Thought the blue highlighted tang version might look better so I bought it, too. Wish it came in the glidelock version, but it sure looks good.

I really like that but I've got the same problem with the DS as I do with the Omega PO's and similar - the height. How does it wear after you've had it on a few days?
