Impulse buy, this just popped up on Ebay... '76 Speedy in great shape. What caught my eye is the 1171 bracelet + 633 endlinks, and a really nice set of hands, both of which I've been hunting for lately, so, decided to just buy it, price seemed reasonable at $3k USD, especially given vintage 1171's have been pushing $1000, and a nice set of tritium hands are way north of $500. Zero due diligence, lets see what happens. I've been on a crazy buying spree and really need an intervention.

Saw that, liked it, had the same thoughts, but I'm waiting on my Speedy Tuesday :/

Not sure if this is a worthwhile gamble or if I've fallen down the rabbit hole here?!

Railtrack Constellation 14393.

Needs a service and a clean. And a crown. And a crystal. Oh and the medallion's missing. That easy to find right 🤔???

At least the patinated dial, case and hands are correct I think.

Couple of close ups.

Serifs are there. Font looks correct. Obvious ageing. The vertical lines in the middle of the dial are faintly visible when viewed at an angle. Quietly confident it's original.

More like explaining to the girlfriend as I'm meant to be on hiatus, "no it cost almost nothing because it needs a service....."

That will look outstanding after a little TLC 😀

No-one looks at the rear of a watch while they wear it anyway 😁

Stumbled on a very old Carrera 3647 Noir, and had the "have to have it" feeling. Well, now that it's here, it's here 😀

Not yet bought but in my hands now to assess ... ridiculously rare but lots of issues and, frankly, I'm having a huge internal discussion trying to give them a value ... the unmarked one is marked up for the Indian Army (1939) while the Hurricane isn't marked but I'm sure would have been issued and probably to the Canadian Air Force ....

I scored this one yesterday and I'm quite pleased with it. A 2648 Constellation with a waffle dial in an 18kt case, running a 13 million serial cal 354.

The 2648 is notable in that it has a slightly thinner bezel and a slightly larger dial than the later references, taking its design cues from the Centenary chronometer ref 2500.
