Thanks to @Jones in LA for bringing this watch to my attention. Had to get one myself.
It's built like a tank but quite appealing visually -- definitely one of my favourite low-ish cost divers. I wish you many years of healthy & happy wearing!
...and to compete with the Tudor Sub above: a genuine Progress Sub [emoji28] Lollipop hand, small triangle economy version. Yes I know, but even in hard times, the addiction needs to be fed. And hey, I'm a sucker for cheap vintage divers. Here, I said it!
Arrived today. Thank goodness sellers pictures are not always that good.
Lemania Cal 4651 ref 9108 KO 1. Thick layer of gold topping on an otherwise stainless steel case.
Just arrived this morning, will be getting it ready to send of to my watchmaker, so it will once again tick as it was designed to. It may take awhile but will post pics when I get it back
Not really a purchase. But a feel good story for something new to me today. I've been looking for one of these for the last year and a half. The closest Omega boutique told me a few months ago they 'might' be getting one in and would let me know. To their credit they called me back about 6 weeks later and said it didn't look like there was one available. I've made a couple of purchases at the local AD and chatted in particular with the fellow who sells Omega in there. Bought a few parts through them for a couple of my vintage Omegas. He's fairly new and an eager learner so we always have great conversations. My son also bought an engagement and wedding ring for his wife there recently. And I've been in a few times with my son to browse watches. The Salesman knew I was looking for this and had made a call to his rep and few months ago only to find out that there was nothing available. Same story as the OB. Then lo and behold a week ago he sent me an email and said the rep was coming for a visit to talk about the new watches and happened to have found a copy of this that he could pass on to a client at no cost. So today I went down to pick it up. He was super happy to be able to pass it on to me and also promised one of the speedmaster posters they will be getting the next time the rep comes in. What a pleasure doing business in a place like that. Great people.
The OB also mentioned an updated version might be forthcoming. I've no idea if that's the case. But rest assured that I'm a happy camper.
