Have not bought a Quartz lately, until today! 43mm HEAVY metal is soon to make it's way to Norway! Now I need to figure out how to exploit its 1000m/3300ft rating...... Or perhaps not It's a Lemania (kind of). I needed it! TLC project in due time.
Can't quite tell if it's a '71 or later. But I'll guess '71 due to the manner in which the lume at 3o'clock has flaked off. My inner sleuth has spoken!
Good job, it's an interesting piece with the dial and and bezel and the caseback, I'll do a post in a bit with some more pics, but I do believe the dial is a 1971, kudos to you!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice snag! I actually just picked up a '71. Still on its way. Yours will clean up nicely, and with some beautiful vintage character.
I bought this watch nearly 2 weeks ago. Getting the former owner to ship was a testament to my patience. I think he wanted me to cancel the auction so he could try and get a higher price. Btw DHL South Africa to California in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just send 2 3 and 4 top row and 2 3 4 bottom row. Only trying to be helpful since tou need the space more.... [emoji10] Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
Lunchtime run yesterday. Extra style points as it's a big hit with the misses. I know I must have done something right when she goes dibs. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

I'm a total noob and this is our first foray into vintage watches. I'm sure we made mistakes and I'm sure we overpaid. But my wife heard me muttering "blah blah blah...dress watch...blah blah blah vintage....blah" but she found this one a 1961 Constellation. I think it's a redial and the crown is replaced. Very polished. I welcome any critique on it. Pics are the best I can do off a phone. I don't think I have the skills to open the back without damage.
Your wife did that?!? I wouldn't trus my GF to pick up a strap with the correct width, consider yourself lucky It's not a redial, but the crown is a replacement and it is pretty polished - I'd still wear that with pride
Looks like an original dial cal 551 ref 14381 to me. Crown as you say is a replacement and although the case does look like it has seen a polishing wheel it was done sympathetically and the watch looks very good. Your bezel especially still has a nice crisp bevel. A very good first buy
Thanks so much. My wife loves vintage stuff and she TOTALLY knew that it wasn't the right crown thanks to reading experts on this forum and fratello watches describe what is and is not original. I'm glad it's not a redial. I think it was just well kept for its life.
Adding to my recent Seamaster run. Case is polished so it was cheap, but I wanted a black dialled daily driver. The font looks good to me but the lacquer looks strange. Wondering if it's a re-dial, had the lacquer reapplied or if the dials do age this way.
Thanks so much. It is a 551 14381xx as the seller told us. We LOVE this forum and my spouse is SO happy that her instincts were correct. Now...to find that vintage 2998 unloved in a thrift shop somewhere, for like,$25
