Yes, thanks. And remarkably, I paid only a bit more than the value of the silver content!

Small auctions can still lead to great value at times.

Took a chance with this one on our local craigslist.

It turned out to be a bingo. Much of course thanks to my wizard of a watchmaker! 馃榾

I don't know if it's just me. The dial printing is concerning. Did your watchmaker have any comment on this?

I bought a Seiko SKX 173 some time ago on a whim. Found some issues with it like no back gasket and a movement that would quit running. But I liked the way it wears. I found that there is a new movement Seiko is putting in some of their new watches that addresses some deficiencies in the old 7S26. The NH36 has hand winding and hacking features. I have decided to put one of these in the old case.

I'll have to cut the stem to fit the new crown and swap the day wheel so it shows correctly at 4 o'clock.

Do You think that is franken or some copy/fake?

A copy or fake of what? As it has no brand markings I would just assume that it is a no name chronograph from the late 40's early 50's.

As it relates to watchmaking, what is that pair of snips used for?

To trim the length of the new stem to 14.8mm.

Thank you. For such a precise profession, that seems pretty crude. Maybe there is hope for me yet.

Does that mean you're talking to Mrs Superdoc?
