Something else is heading downunder
I know of a certain Kilt wearing member that got some macro lenses for his iPad a while ago..... Am I onto something here, or plain coincidence?

Been chasing a Lemania cal 2990 / DS27 since I found they existed on the Ranfft caliber lists. Note the date setting button at 2!
Suddenly this one comes up for sale in Germany.......

Impulse buying:

$_57.JPG

wrongly defined as 27M, and saw it minutes before I had to leave for dinning. Put a snipper on, and won the auction.

Love that dial, and I hope it is not a redial.

By the way, does somebody know what movement is this:

$_57.JPG

maybe a 12.68ZS?
I believe that the movement is indeed a caliber 27M but a quick email to Longines will clear this up.

At a watch fair in Stockholm in 2007.

I was just showing Northernman that I had one too, with the quick set of date

Okay let me take this thread away from watches for a bit...I didn't buy these today, but actually a couple of months ago before we went on vacation. Only now really getting to enjoy them and they are breaking in very nicely...need to do a bit more experimenting with position in the room...

B&W 803 D3's in black lacquer. Here is a product shot from the B&W web site:

Complete redesign of the line (almost all new parts on every model with the exception of a few very small items), and the 803 is a new model slotted in between the 804's and new 802's. Gone are the Kevlar cones as you can see...

We actually listened to a pair of 802 D2's that the store was pretty desperate to unload, and although they were a lot cheaper than the 803's were and technically one step up the line, being from the previous generation they just didn't have the clarity that this new line does.

Also had to get a new Classe power amp to help drive these, and using my old Moon integrated amp as a pre-amp for now (not ideal but it's working okay). Sound is quite different from my previous speakers, and at times (depending on the production values of the recording) they can be almost a bit too revealing. But they have a nice wide, tall, and deep soundstage, and with the right recording they do what they should do - disappear and let the music shine. 馃憤

So far VERY happy with these.

Cheers, Al

Aren't 27M supposed to be sub-seconds calibers?

(I am out of my depth in manual wound Longines, as you see...)

B&W 800 series are such great speakers! I used to work for a High-End Hi-Fi store while being a student (starting to be a few years ago). We sold B&W, and I remember well the earlier 800 series.
From time to time I drop by the store saying hello to old friends, and perhaps picking up a new gadget or two.
Have promised myself a new pair of speakers as soon as the kids are old enough to understand that running something sharp through the speaker elements is unwise (as in making their father go ballistic). Not there yet!
The B&W 800 series is the first I will start listening to....

From your set-up picture I would perhaps consider moving the right hand speaker a 20-30 cm more away from the sidewall / corner? It could help "dry up" and further define the bass if needed. 馃憤
