My buddy who is a huge El Primero fan, told me that 2016 would be the year of the EP for me...he is now not speaking to me.

I normally don't buy project watches, but seeing the rarity of a a3818, and that the dial, inner bezel, hands (sweep hand needs attention), and case are in great original shape, I couldn't help but snap this up. I will admit, I didn't have idea what it was when I hit BIN, but I knew it was good.

We will see how it turns out, and will know more when the FedEx man (i.e. Santa Claus) comes a kocking tomorrow morning.

Between 85 and 90, is that red lacquer from the seconds hand? Looks pretty good, looking forward to seeing your photos when it arrives!

You got it! Took me a minute to figure out after I bought the darn thing and photoshopped the pics. I spoke with the seller at length, and he confirmed that the inner tachy bezel is 100% (we will see) and no peeling or bubbling, and that the crystal has the flaws. Same goes for the dial.

The other pics show a super sharp case with strong bevels, and I will know more in the morning, but based on other examples I have seen, I think there is a strong possibility the case has not been polished, or if it has, very lightly. It still has the starburst finish on the top as well.

Fingers crossed that sourcing the pusher, crystal, gaskets, and any movt parts will not an impossible task.

That is a huge score at the price you paid. Even at twice what you paid. Congrats!

Nice choice Jim🥰 Mine are just a little older😉

Noice!

I'm starting to get the feeling that these may be like watches, you can have a new one and even collect some vintage models 😉

And one thing may help. Annie loves the scooter, maybe I could get "her" a 58 GS 😁

As the Speedy wave only seems to gain momentum I decided I had to get a "moon watch" cal 861 in my collection as well before the .022 also goes bananas like the older references have already done.
This one I guess, after a tad of TLC, should do the trick!? 145.022-71.

I have been a very busy boy today!

After spending just a few hours to decide on buying the most expensive vintage watch I've ever bought, this came up:

$_57.JPG

I would love to see the sellers calipers, as it was sold as being 31mm wide and having a lug distance of 17mm 😁
Just a gold filled model, but the condition seems okay!

Complete dream watch. Would love a 1675 with a faded pepsi bezel.

I had the same feeling/conclusion when I jumped on my .022-69 smooth back a couple of weeks ago for the price I paid... It's not perfect as it needed some things (most notably a DON bezel), but the case and dial sold me on it. Cheers and congrats on the purchase![emoji106] [emoji482]

20160114_00155.jpg

I found this issued Glycine Airman from the 1960s.

The movement is an A. Schild AS1701 modified for 24 hours and enhanced by the ingenius zero-stop mechanism (the seconds hand moves to and stops at 0 if the crown is pulled).

The pointed extended tail of the hour hand is used together with the revolving bezel for a second time zone.

The watch was cushioned in green foam in the original wooden box with a sliding lid.

Cheers,

Mick

Actually purchased yesterday...Rothco nylon helmet bag in black...not mil spec but close. It was purchased to be the dedicated hauler/keeper of my new MWO book...and it's doing a fine job so far! 👍

LATE ENTRY: The MWO book is the most expensive book that I've ever purchased...if I remember correctly, my art history text book in college (early 1980's) was fairly close regarding cost...but the MWO book takes the cake...so it gets a dedicated hauler/keeper. You must take good care of your toys, Sid Phillips! 😉
