What a week.

I was able to buy an other 1675 which makes two 1675's in one week 馃榿

But it would have been cheaper to just buy a second insert!

Not two whole weeks ago I started a thread about a certain Zenith A385 being overpriced and of average condition. Now I'm here to feast on some crow. Yes, I bought it. 馃う

@Darlinboy 's comments about the quality of the dial made me reconsider this watch. It does have nicer hands and dial than most A385s on the market, and the case is certainly less damaged by polish than many others. When comparing about a dozen currently on offer it became evident when factoring in case, dial, hands, price and dealer reputation that this one was clearly the best available as a total package. Plus the bracelet is probably worth enough on its own that I could maybe sell it and the price of the watch would be pushed back into the $4000's, which wouldn't have seen so pricey to me relative to the others on th market w/o bracelet. See how easy justification is?馃槜
The lesson here is I'm totally weak and can talk myself into anything. :whipped: I remind myself of one of those poems by Martin F. Tupper, who was kind of a 19th century British version of Confucius or Jack Handey.

...For the being that is master of himself, bendeth events to his will, But a slave to selfish passions is the wavering creature of circumstance.

I am a wavering creature of circumstance if there ever was one. Anyway, I regret nothing! I love this watch and while the case isn't museum quality this will make for an awesome wearable example. And I like the bracelet way more than I ever expected to. Some crummy pics:

Awesome

A Boley & Leinen Staking Set.

Complete with all stakes and stumps, two broken stakes and a number of mushroom heads I need to fix up. It was all seized up with dried oil and crud but has now been cleaned and working like a dream. Still have to fix a few of the stakes, what were they hitting them with, a f'kn 3lb ball peen hammer?

So this rather large box arrived today, well yesterday but I had to go pick it up from the post office today.

Little concerned the box is so big as I bought a watch with a strap and the seller was including 2 NOS crystals as well. But, I admire the quality and care in which it was packed, not complaining more perplexed.

Unpacked the extremely well packed parcel and was getting nervous as I pulled out a fair size flat box. Panic sets in 1) shipped the wrong thing, have to deal with hassles 2) open box and it could be empty or a note saying I've been duped.

Turns out the eBay seller went above and beyond in sending this 1960/61ish original gem which is feeling the burn as well.

And the box you ask (or have stopped reading by now)

And the benched, although comfortably SM300

Guess I have another few slots to fill now

Something new and military! My first military piece. Will have it next week.

The Type 20s are firmly in the "stuff I like" category.

Congrats!
