I've been pretty content most of the year but ran across an award watch listing about a month ago. I contacted the seller who just so happened to live close by and asked did they have any other watches and received a message they had a blue dialed watch.. So I kind of bought the first watch hoping it might lead to the next one.

An 18K Zenith Captain was first -

and today the blue dialed watch.

I was told the watch had been in a drawer for the last 20 years but I think it could be closer to 40+ years.

Dibs on the blue dialed watch! 馃グ

1970s retro cool. Perfect with my Aston!

Who would have thought that those chunky watches of the early 70s would look so cool 40 + years on.

After many false starts, close calls, near misses, and loads of research and patience I was able to cross this off my Grail List. 165.024 circa 1968. Figure I'd celebrate with the Gentlemen and cheers to the forum for all the great knowledge share that helped me get there.

Baby Ploprof on it's way to me from the Bay

I actually needed to not spend any money this month due to a forced trip back to the UK. Oh well.

Received and straight to the spa after opening it up to find a bent balance spring, among other issues. Supposedly fully serviced, not even a gasket in the back.

Looks great though, should be good in a couple of weeks.

Could have fixed the more obvious Jagger / Jaeger as well. I guess my phone likes the Rolling Stones

Seiko is so hard to beat value wise when you want an auto movement & water resistance in a beater. All for less than the cost of a service for a vintage beater. The SKX007 is also in the same league. Great watches for hanging out at hotel pools and the like.

Quite a departure for me of late. At 44mm it's at the limit for my small wrist, but I always liked this JR line and when Ashford had them on sale recently, wanted to give it a try. Dial finishing and case work is pretty nice with a hint of Genta DNA in there.
