Browsing the local ad麓s I saw, through the corner of my eye, the magical word "Lemania". This always gets me curious.
Seller had the customary lousy photo (only one), and was selling at a give-away price.
Hey "He Who Dares Wins"! Agreed on a price (haggled it down by another 15%) and that was that.
Arrived this afternoon.
EPSA Super Compressor case. Signed "hatched" crown, spotless "linen dial", perfect (untouched) cal 3000. Only "downside" was some dirt, a disintegrating back gasket (GBP1) and the need for a new (GBP4) crystal. The case is absolutely stunning! I don't know if I am able to catch the details, but bevels and surfaces are sharp and clean. I do think it will clean up rather nicely?
Best part is I paid less than the price for a case of beer馃榿! (Mind you beer is a tad expensive around here).馃檮

What a cracking find it looks like it hasn't been opened since it left the factory. A service would probably be a good idea. 馃榾

It has a small service mark in the caseback so I assume it has been serviced at one time. The watchmaker who did this was obviously a careful man.
Dating from 1964 I am sure it will need another service very soon馃榾!

Congrats on an amazing find, Anders!
Thanks Doug!
To me it is proof that top quality may be found at reasonable prices as low as long as one stays alert.
Cheers!

Very pleased to announce the arrival of this cal 1511 Marine Chronometer. With their historical significance and number of "firsts", these have long been on my radar. Then the planets aligned...thanks Tom!

Some folks at my work think it looks like an Apple phone. I guess we could call it a distant prototype, huh? It just runs a single app. 馃榾

I could not resist the urge to make an offer for this one. The case is Staybrite steel and the movement is nicely finished to my eyes. Doxa was never really on my radar until I stumbled upon this piece.

For 3k euros I think I didn't do too bad. Alas, someone fitted this with shoulderless springbars and I immediately put a scratch on when removing. Out of sight so out of mind eventually, but still... ::facepalm1::
