A JLC WWW came knocking. Seller wanted a lot, I offered a great deal less expecting to be declined. Seller accepted. 馃槈
14 day inspection period, but I think it holds potential.... Worn dial and case. Not unusual for a military watch. Silly really but out of the 12 different WWW "dirty dozen" watches the JLC has one of the nice movements cased in the poorest finished cases.

Last week I was certain I lost a lot on auction with a few pounds. It really bothered me because I thought it was a quite unique piece. The auction end price was higher than my max bid so I was sure someone else had wanted it more than I.
Today I received a letter and invoice from said auction house. The End price included fees, and I was the highest bidder after all. 馃榾
So I hereby introduce my newly acquired Lemania HS9 issued chronograph.
In it self a desirable watch, but this one comes with the box it was delivered in and the service medals and name of the officer (airman) that it was issued to!
I am also intrigued by the chrono pusher. Modified for use with mittens/gloves?
First of for a service and then "home".

Very nice pic up. Having the details of the airman and medals is such a bonus.
Shame that the family had to sell it, assuming there was someone else to pass it onto. However I saw this on the morning of the auction, and just had to bid. although I was bidding a bit blind and was well short in the end.
Nice to see it reappear here 馃榾
Looking fwd to some future wrist shots and any stories you may uncover about the owner. Enjoy

Not everyone leaves a family behind.
Nevertheless I will at least make sure that Mr JA Barrow's watch and medals stays together.

Well, the delivery truck is not coming to my door today as scheduled, not a good thing when Mother Nature interferes with the delivery of my new acquisition.... 馃

A busy weekend filling in a couple of gaps in my Lemania cal 3xxx section.
Lemania cal 3000 (yes I have loads of them now). This one with a extremely low serial (255). Yes it is a serial and not a caliber number:

Looks reasonably clean for a late 1940s watch!?

And then this one:

A caliber 3065 (central seconds + date).
Here is a picture of how that movement should look like (not mine):

As normal they came in at silly little money.

Thanks for not looking and not collecting these beauties!

The same anticipation and last minute fun as an eBay watch auction, but you get the alcohol AFTER you win.

I mean, I was down to only 5 bottles on the rack of 2001 Arrowood 馃槻 - that's nearly emergency levels! Now if my guy in SF comes through with a couple bottles I'll have a baker's dozen. A case to store, and one test bottle to see if it's resolved / peaked in a few years.

Yeah, I know.... 馃え

This came today; a pre-order I made 6 months ago (pre-OmegaForum[emoji6]) from German watch-maker H2O, the Kalmar V2:

Just got one of these:

So I can test the dials (for grins[emoji1]) of these:

....that I think have varying amounts of radium (or not!). Should be fun to take into antique shops...
