Wait a minute, you're coming on a mechanical wristwatch forum and complaining about vintage technology? ::facepalm1::

Hahaha, bam!

Hahaha, bam!

bam? are you using modern tech or not? do you have a cellphone? why don’t you stick then to analog phone, horses, and steam engine? let’s see if you have vintage technology or your logic now sounds stupid.

The dial is pretty badly damaged at the center.

i didn’t notice the dial issue until you pointed it out. actually by looking at it from your hand, you won’t see it until you zoom with a camera. i really like the sparkly of this seamaster. it looks new. and yeah, all was service few months ago. i saw the times that these watches were serviced.

i think i’ll return the geneve because it’s the least i wanted to buy and buy a certina ds action watch. it costs only 600€ now that i can recall the price because i asked for more discount for buying three of them. i saw much worst condition at higher price in chrono24.

Yes, it probably looks ok on the wrist, @Davidt and I are just discussing condition relative to value. The condition of the dial is nearly half the value of the watch, so that will make the Seamaster hard to sell.

We hear this a lot from newbies, but Chrono24 asking prices are nearly useless IMO. 99.9% of the listings there are at 2x fair market value (or more), and just sitting for months. If you like the watches, then just enjoy them and don't worry about price. If you have thoughts about flipping them, forget it.

oh yeah. i really like the classic design so I think i’ll just use them. if in the future i’ll sell them, at least it won’t be that bad because they are not fake. this is my only concern when i saw some youtube videos pointing out that omega vintage watches are the most common target in making fakes. i guess buying from watch stores that operate for 83 years is not that bad because they can’t run away if they sell fake watches. i was ready to return them if any of you says they are fake watches. at least i still have 3 more days before i fly to decide if i can return them in case something is off.

That "bam" does of course have nothing to do with whether one uses modern technology or not, was just a reaction to a funny reply.

why don’t you stick then to analog phone, horses, and steam engine?

Because analog phones don't work here anymore. Horses and steam engines work fine though so I'm quite happy with those.

let’s see if you have vintage technology or your logic now sounds stupid.

The only thing that sounds stupid is that sentence since it makes no sense.

Nice watches though!

So, you bought them. And now , after you bought them, what do you want to do ? Give them back ? Keep/sell/enjoy ? Step one:go back to the shop and have all backs open and take close ups from everything, that is stamped in there. Step two: You check the numbers on a search engine, note the results and come back here with YOUR findings and get some advice. That is, how a specialized vintage watch forum works. Good luck !
THAT is definitely out of fashion. " I want it. I deserve it. I need it NOW and You have to deliver it ! "

the second one, not the seamaster, with a screwdown caseback is just lovely. though hands look relumed, and maybe not even omega. any idea of the diameter of that one?

it is a 1951 watch. it is very beautiful. i thought the luminous compound works in the dark but it is totally gone. it can still be the original compound. the owner died and the wife is not interested in keeping it. attached is the paper work they give me.

Not a very knowledgeable seller. The movement is presumably cal 261, a member of the venerable 30mm movement family. Hopefully the "watchmaker" knows more than the jeweler. Yes, the phosphor will be dead. As I and others noted above, the dramatically mismatched color between the lume in dial and hands suggests that the hands have been filled with non-luminous compound for cosmetic reasons, presumably because the original material had degraded and fallen out. If you are interested, it can be replaced with material that better matches the color of the dial. That would normally be done in a sensitive restoration. Generally, radium lume from the 1950s will not be bright white. The lume on the dial may be original, a Geiger counter will provide certainty if you are interested.

I'm not sure why people are still entertaining this guy, the OP said he has no desire to contribute anything to this site, he is here solely to get feedback and information on his three watches and then disappear. Let's help him along.

i’m sure many here hang around because they enjoy helping newbies and people asking help. however, some here hang around on the guise of being helpful but actually are bullies and justify bullying people because they are experts. in our help channel in programming, we kick them because they are the main reasons why the community is not growing. they become territorial. so the challenge for you moderator is to have the balls to draw the line. cheers and thanks everyone. good luck to your community.

and just to feedback on your system, i created a thread in fake buster, but never got an email when someone replies to my query. i thought it was a fluke, so i deleted the thread and created another one. still no email although i have to search the thread for my queries and saw someone replying but no email for me to go directly to that thread. finally, i created a main thread which now works and i got email of the replies but here we are. i’m not sure if the default is to not automaticaly notify or email newbies about replies to their threads or it was just an issue with your server there. for the admin of this group, maybe try to create a new account and see if my experience can be replicated.
