Not exactly vintage, but I have one of the Accutron Spaceview from 2010 that is a reproduction of the original from the early 60's. Case size is modernized at 42mm but the movement (reverse engineered by Citizen Watch, owner of Bulova) is faithful to the original.

these were $3k when released, yes? wonder if they'll do the same for the new movement release.

This Accutron Model 206 in Case (2362) would be considered one of the very earliest Stainless Steel "Accutron" watches produced by Bulova. Its a 1961 Circa date and aside from the 1960 Model 203 & Model 204 which have the 14kt Gold Inlays in the stainless case, this watch model would be very close to next in line of early production. A few of these 1961 Cream and Black dial models do pop up for sale but its few and far between. There were a couple early Railroads (Stainless and GoldFilled) models that came out in 1962, one being in this case but generally 1962 was the year that we began seeing more watch varieties in Stainless Steel. 1961 was a year that was an exception. Most were Solid Gold models at that time.

I can't speak for anyone else but all mine have been in the $125.00-$145.00 USD range for a complete movement service. Rob Berkavicius, Bangkok, Thailand does all mine and has for many years. I have used a couple other US based 'proclaimed' experts repair guys when I was new to the hobby and that was a mistake. Not a total disaster, just a big mistake. Live and learn they say. 👍

Anyone know of someone in the states that specialize in these Early Accutron Electrics? My watchmaker said they require a special microscope and tools to calibrate them properly (said something about teeth alignment and tuning fork vibration- I had a hard time following- sounded like the teachers in the Charlie Brown specials mwah-b’mwah-mwah) ), and he got rid of his tools for them years ago since he barely used them.

The only person I could recommend in the States would be Ernie Goldman and his homepage is: http://www.starfindings.com/
Ernie's Ebay link which works well(Best & quickest way to send him a watch for repair).
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Got-an-ACC...121865?hash=item1a67a69c09:g:6EgAAOSwo4pYelBT

I have used him 3-4 times years ago and his work is ok and when using his ebay service, it was a pretty fast process. He does warranty his work.

I watched this youtube video on servicing the Accutron 214 by Henny C Frystak
, there are 4 or 5 videos in the series. Take some caffeine pills before you settle down to watch it, but it might help understanding what Charlie Brown's parents were talking about.

Where are you guys located and how was the shipping to and from Thailand? Which carrier did you use, how much did it cost-etc. Shipping within the US is pretty safe and cheap but shipping outside can be a killer and high risk.

I live in SoCal and just sent it first class USPS. He actually gives you great instructions when you contact him. Even provides the Thai customs label to attach to the envelope. Cost was like $15 going out and $10 coming back. About 10 days each way for transit.
