AR Scratches

Only 3 months old and look at all those marks.
I'm sure they are on the AR coating?
Can anyone confirm this please.
This picture is obviously under direct down light but hell, that's some scratches!
Why oh why do they put AR coating on the exterior of the glass. I thought the whole idea of a sapphire crystal glass was to aid in being scratch resistant? Doesn't make sense.
Is there anyway of cleaning this up or just keep wearing and collect more 'character!'

Looks like scratches in the outer AR. Some people just polish the outer AR off using polywatch or similar. If it’s only 3 months old
I’d ask the seller - if it was an AD or boutique then maybe they’ll look to see if there’s a fault in the coating.

Thinking of just getting rid of it! The AR that is. Can't be bothered with all the back and forth with the AD and loosing the watch to Omega for 3 months!
Can anyone kindly give me some instructions on removal?
Many thanks.

I have the same Seamaster in black and was disappointed when I saw 2 very faint scratches on the AR. I was wondering if I got a faulty watch as I didn't expect the AR coating to be THAT delicate

I can only say that I wear my watch (same model) every single day, worn since I bought it (April 2019), and it has not a scratch. It’s the same as the first day.

Really?
Do you ever leave that soft padded room?

The outer AR on my X-33 G2 is scratched to hell. Looks terrible but it was a known issue with them that was apparently addressed in later batches (many years later). that watch has always been treated as a proper tool watch though. I have one, maybe 2mm long sctrach on my daily worn Speedmaster. When it gets worse I'll likely take the outer AR off. I do bash the raised crystal into various things so I wouldn't consider it "delicate" given how I treat it.

I've used Polywatch with a soft buffing pad on a dremel, twice. If you are concerned about the bezel, tape it off first. I wasn't and didn't notice any marring of it following me polishing off the AR.

Have you been able to identify some activity or piece of clothing that could be causing? Definitely doesn't seem normal and I wouldn't be happy about it.

Update.
Phoned my AD who were more than sympathetic and helpful.
They are sending my photos to Omega and awaiting response.
Trouble with this is, I will loose my new watch for 3/4 months!

Ok guys, autosol used, couldn't live with it any longer. It looks amazing and a prefer the blackness of the black rather than the purple/blue hue.

What do you do with your watch that could have caused the scratching? Even the rubber strap at 12 side looks very scratched up.

Wow, that is super scratched up! I've been planning to buy the white dial and daily it. I guess this stuff can come out with polywatch as people have mentioned above?
