Hey everyone. I've picked up this beautiful AT on the secondary market, and I noticed that in certain light and angles there is a scratch (or something) which is pretty annoying to look at to be honest. Anybody else had experiance like this? How to solve it?
What would be the price to just replace it? If anyone got some info, please do let me know 馃檹馃徎馃檹馃徎

A scratch you say? There will be more!

I have been looking at that big sucker by the one and two for years and made more of my own dings and scratches.
Either get a new crystal or polish the AR coating off.
Great looking watch!馃憤

It probably is a scratch on the AR coating.
Yeah, I think so too.

Thanks. Yeah, my watchmaker suggested scratching it off too. However, I am afraid that it would ruin it in a way. I will see what's the cost for a new one first. Awesome piece you got there too!

It doesn't look like a scratch on the crystal to me, more like a small speck of dust on the dial. I had that on a Speedmaster too - it was quickly fixed by Omega at first service (now I miss ist 馃槣)
By the way - great watch

It could be. But in certain light its invisible. But that would be much less painful option for sure

Yeah, I agree looks like a speck of dust. If you're watch is still within it's warranty period take it into Omega and let them service it. They will also polish out any scuffs and scratches from your watch as well

Unfortunately its nit, but I will take it to a watchmaker in the near future to check it out. It would be great if its a speck of dust to be honest

They do not refinish the case for warranty work. They just fix the warranty issue.

It's a 5 minute job. It should not cost much, and I know my watchmaker would do it while I waited (and we'd chat while he did it since I enjoy talking watchmaking and so does he). He'd charge maybe $20 and perhaps nothing at all.

I don鈥檛 want to worry you but there is no external AR on the SMP. That鈥檚 a scratch to the underlying sapphire.

Yeah, it's not a big deal. Thanks for the advice. My plan was to polish it professionally soon anyway, and when they do that, they have to take the watch apart. I was more wondering what it actually is. If its just a scratch or something inside on a dial. Way better option if that's the case!

Really? I heard that if you take your Omega back to them for warranty work, they refinish the case and bracelet as well. I guess I heard wrong....

For a service, yes. Warranty work, no.

Definitely not. In the UK at least.

Not in Canada or anywhere else I鈥檝e seen either. They just address the warranty concern and call it a day.
