Divers are made for the beach. Never had a issue with AR coating due to sand.

I wear the tank to the beach nowadays

Just spent two weeks in Cornwall, the only watch I took was my Seamaster diver, we were on the beach, in and out of the sea on an almost daily basis, the watch was out in the elements all the time. I cannot see any scratches on the watch, the only thing I did at the end of each day was wash the watch off under the tap, just to make sure that any sand and salt water was washed off.

To my mind the watch was in its natural habitat and doing what it was designed for.

To OP, glad that G-Shocks works out for you on the beach. I have G-Shock for going to the beach with the kids too. I just think its more enjoyable with the family when I don't need to worry about beating up the beater. 😁

I agree with those who said that life is short and you should enjoy your watches.

Also, you might be impressed by how much this coating can resist (I’m scubadiving/ spending time at the beach in my free time... and I also owned a SMP).

Don’t babysit your watches, they were built to be used and to resist to the marine environment.

Alberto

I swim with mine 5 or 6 times a week. I do dive starts. Took it for an open-water swim last week. It's a sport watch. I do sport things with it. It's not a rare watch, and it's insured. If it gets destroyed, I'll file a claim and replace it with zero deductible. If it gets damaged, I'll get it fixed.

If you’re concerned enough to ask the question, then maybe it’s best you wear a beater instead! 😉

I was in Cayman a year or so ago and I made any point of keeping on the watch when I showered after snorkeling. I was just wearing a cheapo Vostok Amphibian but it felt like a good way to make sure I got it rinsed off. I also tend to burn so it helped to get the sunblock off the rubber strap.

As said by others buy watches to wear them, so in your case would had bring the SMPc instead of the speedy 😉
