Yep, JW it is. Be prepared for a 3-5 mth wait though...

....and JW is a weird business place. It only open twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday if I am not mistaken) and only for few hours (12:30 to 16:00 to be exact). I heard people line up to get into the store. 🤨.

From personal experience, the parts issue is partly surmountable, if you get a model which has been around for some time, since there are still occasional parts available on Ebay. Mechanical parts for a calibre 2121/1121 do come, albeit not all the time. The harder parts to find are the seals, which are unique to the Royal Oak case. Since these are perishable, they need to be replaced and I picked one up a few years ago and used it in a recent service. The rubber ring cost around 100 Euro, but that's still cheaper than an AP service. Crowns aren't cheap either. Bracelet parts and dials come up for sale more frequently, but you'd have to be very careful about sizing. Overall, by purchasing spares, you can provide for future servicing at an independent watchmaker, but I suspect that I'll eventually have to bite the bullet and send it to Le Brassus for the arm and leg treatment. Just need to pay off the mortgage first.

Conor

I hear you. My friend just service his 5402 for a wallop sum of USD 2,500. It got its dial replaced as well as crown and inside parts.

Actually, it's Thursdays and Saturdays, 12 to 4pm. For me, its the 3 to 5 months wait for servicing vintage that really puts me off. 😵‍💫 Excellent service staff though!

It ain't going to be 3-5 months guys. I just got my manual Omega with cal267 back after 9 months. Just get yourself distracted with new additions. 😜

9 months for servicing a common vintage Omega!!! You just better send it to me to be serviced with my guy in Bandung. No more than 2 weeks (not including shipping) guaranteed 😉 .

I had to send my wife's AP RO in because it needed a crown, which wasn't to be had anywhere (here in Germany) ...They had the cheek to say they would only replace the crown if they done a full service to the watch...I had a service done (with crown replaced) fror 2200€.
If you think that put me off AP...think again, I bought a white gold Cal 2121 Jumbo shortly after, at auction! ... I'm a sucker for punishment, because shortly after that I bought a SS/G Jumbo, this time I thought I could have it serviced by my watchmaker...he serviced it, but the rotor isn't working as it should, which he says has to be replaced...So I'll have to send it off again to AP, I wonder what their price will be today.

The only possible issue would be if what i see on the dial is anything other than sun shade. Otherwise it's a beauty 😀

All check outs. Similar to what MikiJ said, if you pass on it. Let me know 😀

from what i understand this is a 4100 rather than a 14790?
That makes a difference. Still a great watch, but should be a little less money.

the 4100 is less desirable than the 14790? what's the difference if you could share? also what's a reasonable price for this piece?

Ask for the size WITHOUT the crown. The 14790 is the newer version and a few mm larger.
