38mm minty quartz Tudor my Seamaster, my first watch a Seiko quartz from 1989 never had a hickup, My quartz Seadragon, Mod Seiko sk quartz, and my constellation quartz This watch is the most accurate watch I own
My Omega Speedmaster X-33 quartz gains only 5 sec/yr (next to my wife's quartz TAG mother of pearl diver). Sometimes quartz is just what you need. I'll spend about $10K avg over every five years on mechanical watch services, so there's that...
Yeah! I forgot all about my Grand Seiko SBGX115 because it's not Omega - it is also gaining under 5 sec/yr but it's at Seiko right now getting a battery service done. The attention to details is right up their with all of my Omega and Rolex watches.
And then there is this one, although not on the same level of workmanship, it's still pretty darn nice. Tag Red Bull Formula 1 chronograph. Sometimes a nice quartz can be fun and cheaper to maintain, and not look or feel cheap.
I just bought my wife a Quartz Ladies Seamaster 1380, is post pics but it’s in hiding until our anniversary in Aug. Funny story about quartz movements though, my FIL used to be a Rolex repairman, and he had a Rolex that he just couldn’t get to keep time no matter what he did. He got so frustrated that he pulled the mechanical movement out and put in a quartz. It was his personal watch so he just rolled with it, still wears it all the time. I’m trying to convert him to Omega, but Rolex love runs deep with him.
I have a Omega Quartz , worn it everyday for the last 7 years , would never part with it . I do yearn for a proper watch though
Many of my quartz watches are matching father son watches. I don’t have pics of our pair of Victorinox Dive Master 500’s on my phone right now (at dinner). My black dial version is stainless and his is PVD coated, (but I also have a PVD coated with red dial automatic). But here is the pair of 1998 birth year quartz Seamaster Pro’s I mentioned previously, for my son’s 18th birthday. And the pair of X-33s quartz watches for father and son (high school graduation). The Bulova quartz moonwatch re-make, showing itself off to the X-33 - my son has the version with straps instead of bracelet. Can’t find the photo. The stainless steel Luminox that I wore for 3 weeks in the hospital after a serious car crash Dec 2014 - didn’t need to charge up the lume with sunlight that I wasn’t getting to see. My son has the matching blackout version. And finally, our almost matching Luminox Atacama quartz watches. For some reason I’m wearing his non-chrono and he’s got my blue chronograph on.
I would not take it personally, no one likes my freshly dug nugget either. I have never really had a lot of respect for the quartz, although there are some well made watches even of COSC chronometer grade but to me being quartz I do not take them seriously. I simply cannot compare a synthetic heart to one of pure mechanical engineering. But that's just me, there are plenty out there who's opinion differs and individuals who will buy quartz movements in modern watches, and pay big bucks for them. Quartz lcd was all I ever had as a kid, but tastes and budgets change along with maturity, for me the refinement of a compact mechanical excellence is my desire nowadays.
My quartz is an easy daily wear, I love taking it on travel cause the hour hand can be moved without disturbing the mins and secs.
To make up for its lack of sophisticated-ness, quartz watches usually have more beautiful and bold dials.
