I’m stuck in hospital with my son. Wish we’d had a nice salad instead of this.

So maybe we can work out who invented it by deduction. I’ll start with... it wasn’t German hospitals.

Hope you both get out of there ASAP 😉

Yeah I think we’re good. It was very strange, something I’d never heard of before. He’d picked up a small scratch on his finger at school on then the next morning it was infected and he had faint red lines running up his arm. Google told me we needed to head to A&E as it was Lymphangitis. That can spread quickly to Sepsis which is obviously extremely dangerous so he needed intravenous antibiotics. Now we’re home and he’s on a week of oral antibiotics and then he should be clear.

I can’t count how many times he’s had similar cuts, or how many times I had similar when I was younger, and I’d never seen or heard of this. I guess it’s just unlucky that the cut was deep and the wrong kind of bacteria got pushed in. Anyway all good now and we’re reloading on fruit and veg 😀

Glad to hear that you and your son are now home and that your son is getting better.

Yikes @w154, really glad it was sorted. Also shows how important it is to be attentive even to little odd things when health is concerned.
When my nephew was about a year old, there was a day he would pull his foot away from the floor when my mother tried to stand him up holding him by the hands.
She thought it was odd and that it suggested perhaps some pain— and immediately notified his father, and after a couple calls he was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. Turned out he had an infection in the knee which might have destroyed his ability to grow cartilage and bone and left him crippled for life if the treatment had not been so swift and decisive. (Thanks to the French public health insurance and hospital system by the way.)

Could this thread beat the record for fastest thread drift ever, as well as the change in topic to something absolutely not relevant to the OP question in hand??😉 Still enjoying the drift, maybe it gets back in line eventually?

@JanV by all means I’d be very interested if you can contribute some good Rolex expertise to enlighten the initial subject of the thread. I gave it my best shot.

At least salad is directly relevant to everyone’s daily life.

@w154 @Syrte

I retired from practicing medicine 12 years ago, but as a pediatrician I’ve seen both of those problems more than once. It’s not as rare as you would think.

Since I could not find any other thread dedicated to greens, here’s an update— with more colorful vegetables from a farmer at the market. Have you ever seen white eggplant?

And did anyone on the Rolex forum or elsewhere supply a better explanation than our humble OF contributions?

Have a good week end all!

So S stands for salad?
S for salad, M for mustard, and R for roasted garlic. 😉
