Anyone know the difference between case reference 14779 and 165.010?

I am struggling to see the difference between these two models; 165.010 and 14779. Are they the same model referenced differently as the inside of them also seems to be identical, as they appear to use the same size dial?

All I know is that the 14779 was the predecessor of the 165.010. Other than that, I think that they may be essentially identical, but if I'm wrong I'm sure that our 1960's Seamaster experts will be along shortly to correct me.

I thought this would be the case as I have often seen the same crown on both models and also vice versa! Obviously they are not originally that way and one of the model may have had crown incorrectly replaced at some stage In particular I have seen both models with what is often referred to as the scalloped crown!

Which of the two models would be correct to have the scalloped crown?

Apart from the other differences you mention would they also have same sized dial?
