For those of us that don’t know (me), can someone outline grey import and warranty, why, how etc.

Yep, they get a few in. See pic below taken about 2 years ago. At that point list for the FOIS was about £3,300 inc UK VAT but the same watch was around £2,650 inc VAT at Iconic etc with full Omega warranty so they may not have had many takers at £2,999.98 for the same watch without the AD warranty.

Not wanting to be unhelpful, but I really think you should have a search (google/OF/WUS) - there are loads and loads of posts on the subject. Possibly the second-most debated subject after "Which strap do you suggest for my Speedmaster?".

They are advertising at list price. You still need to call them to order.
No you don't.

That is what I saw when I accessed the site. MSRP and no way to click to order a watch.

I only know because I have purchased from them, unless they have changed things in the last year.

Hearin lies the elephant in the room: it may be difficult for some to admit without shame that they got their luxury item from this retailer. It bumps its perception a bit down from Rolex, given this accessibility. Too painful for some to bear.

The funny thing is Costco sells Rolex also....

Brand perception may take a hit with some, but quite honestly these are mid-levels brands we are talking about here. To me it's odd that any "shame" would be associated with where you purchased the watch from - this seems like some bizarre snobbery thing to me.

Oh, and then there's this...

Rolex, Omega, Panerai, IWC, Longines, Tag - the list goes on of watches that have been available at Costco at one time or another. If it's a good price for a watch that you want, then why does it matter if you bought it at Costco?

Not shame, per se, but loss of cachet. Wouldn't matter to me, but...would Superdoc make a purchase there? Just sayin...

The only important points are reputation for honest dealings, price and follow up. I'd gladly buy from Costco if the had a competitive price. Looking at the Seamaster above, though, puts them around $300.00 more than others. Like everything else, you need to do your homework.

There was a thread on TRF about Costo and a few snowflakes were simply apoplectic about it. It's the only word that seems to capture the spirit of the thread.

Another thread on macrumors.com a long time ago was about Walmart selling iPhones and people were legitimatley offended by the thought of it.

I think tying your self image to a product is absurd but tying your self image to *where* you bought the product is well... I don't know exactly.

I think the differences here are the OF members who are Costco members and understand what Costco is, and those who have yet to walk in there looking for a block of Parmesan Regianno and perhaps some smoked/wild salmon and perhaps some vintage olive oil, only to walk out with god knows what after two or three hours. (I'm only allowed to go in there under spousal supervision these days) 😵‍💫::facepalm1::
