I tried to find a nice rubber strap for my gmt seamaster and purchased an aftermarket seamaster PO rubber strap for it and it didn't fit. The holes for the pins was too far out. The lug holes didn't match up.
Anyone know where I can find one? I tried ofrei.com and it was $200. I'd rather purchase a variety of zulu/nato straps and have the diversity.

This is my watch on the Omega black rubber deployment strap OME-98000037. Yes, it does look and feel like leather:

Was the PO strap too wide, or not the same shape/thickness? The 45.5mm PO runs a 22mm lug width while the 42mm PO is the standard 22mm. I've seen someone running the orange PO croc strap on a Bond Seamaster 2531.80 so I would have thought it'd fit your GMT

It's not too wide. It's a 20mm. It's just that the lug holes don't match up. I think I'll stick with nato and zulu straps for right now. It takes less time to swap straps.

Here is my Seamaster Pro Chrono Ti ref.2298.80 on a rubber strap ref.97988082 and clasp ref. 9453-1803. I actually like the look of the watch on rubber, but the strap is too stiff and the clasp is too large. To my taste, that is.

Is it a butterfly clasp rather than a single foldover? Don't think I've ever seen one like that before

Yes, it is a butterfly clasp. I remember they were quite popular on these Omega Seamasters, approx 10 years ago.

I seem to remember there also being a shark skin blue strap option, much like the one in your pictures as a distinct model offering, saw one on a pawn shop on a 2599 SS SMPC not too far back.

You can purchase the butterfly clasp for about $200 on ofrei.com. That strap is also on the website for another $200.

Ofrei isn't the best place to go shopping for these parts. I think I paid 150 euro (Summer 2010) for the whole set (when the Euro / USD was 1 : 1,30).

Even the OEM PO strap is difficult to put on because the holes on the strap are far out as you said. I guess it's made that way so that the strap is tight and flush against the watch. I had a very difficult time putting the strap on the watch. Finally I read on one of the forums that a slight bend to the spring bars helps. I tried it and it worked fine. I had no issues with any play etc and it fits fine.

Hi Omegagmt... me too i am looking for a decent rubber strap.. seen a 98000037 black strap and a 9453-1803 clasp... just seems a bit steep on ofrei site!?! i got myself a nato 20mm strap.. i think it looks ok actually, but been told it looks cheap on a nice looking watch... i have black Seamaster professional 300m full size... Did you find anything yet? or you still looking for Nato option?

If you think Ofrei is steep, try the AD 0_0

I can't believe a piece of rubber can cost that much money but somehow their AD's here in Australia manage to charge more than 3X the price on Ofrei!
